Los Angeles Lakers vs. New Orleans Pelicans NBA Betting Odds Preview, Analysis

OddsShark.comFeb 4, 2016

The Los Angeles Lakers (10-41) will attempt to win consecutive games for the first time since January 3 when they visit the New Orleans Pelicans (18-30) as double-digit underdogs Thursday.

The Lakers ended a season-high 10-game losing streak with a 119-115 victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves as 4.5-point home dogs Tuesday.

Kobe Bryant had the best game of his final year with a season-high 38 points for Los Angeles versus the T-Wolves, making 10 of 21 shots from the field, including seven of 11 from beyond the three-point arc and 11 of 12 from the free-throw line.

However, he is listed as questionable against New Orleans due to a sore shoulder and may sit. Bryant had scored 48 points combined in his previous four games with a total of seven three-pointers.

The Pelicans have lost two in a row straight up and against the spread after winning seven of nine SU with a 6-3 mark ATS during that stretch. They surrendered 110 points to both the Memphis Grizzlies and San Antonio Spurs during their current skid and have seen the over go 9-0-1 in their last 10 games, according to the Odds Shark NBA Database.

In their previous seven wins, they have averaged almost 112 points per game.

New Orleans has won five of the past six meetings with Los Angeles, going 4-2 ATS and averaging nearly 108 points. However, the last game between the teams saw the Lakers win 95-91 as two-point home underdogs to snap a four-game losing streak on January 12, which is the only time they have met this season.

In that game, Bryant scored just seven points in 16 minutes before leaving with an Achilles injury. The Pelicans were also without leading scorer and rebounder Anthony Davis due to a bruised back, hurting their chances to pick up the road win despite being favored.

Lou Williams led Los Angeles with 19 points, scoring nine of them in the fourth quarter when his team held a 28-20 edge. The total has gone under in three of the past four meetings after the over cashed in three straight along with six of seven in the series.
