Djamel Mesbah Reportedly Arrested for Drunk Driving: Latest Details, Reaction

Sampdoria left-back Djamel Mesbah was reportedly arrested for drunk driving after a police chase, per a Tuesday report by Secolo XIX (via Football Italia).

Per that report, the officers tried to flag down Mesbah in Genoa, but the full-back initially sped up rather than pulling over before eventually being caught.     

Mesbah, 31, has made seven appearances (six starts) for Sampdoria in Serie A play this season, failing to score a goal or an assist while averaging 1.1 tackles and 2.4 clearances per game, per WhoScored.com. He's also posted a mediocre 6.39 average match rating, according to the site.

Vasco Regini (14 Serie A appearances)—the club's regular starter down the left—and Dodo (two appearances) remain options for Sampdoria at the position depending upon the legal repercussions facing Mesbah and any disciplinary action levied from the club.

Sampdoria are currently 17th on the Serie A table, just four points clear of the relegation zone.
