Fantasy Predictions

Throwing the ball against the Broncos is no easy task. Only Ben Roethlisberger (twice) and Tom Brady have thrown for over 300 yards against Denver's defense this season—and two of those instances involved over 50 pass attempts.
So regardless of the game's outcome, expectations for Cam Newton's stats should be tempered.
It's also worth noting that Newton's stats will depend greatly on whether the Panthers can establish the running game early.
Newton was held under 200 passing yards seven times this season, typically in games when Jonathan Stewart found early success and allowed Carolina to control the game from start to finish.
Newton's more explosive offensive performances came in close, high-scoring games—for example, his season-high 340 yards and five touchdowns in a 38-35 victory over the New York Giants.
With the Broncos offense struggling, it likely means the Panthers won't be forced to air it out and Newton finishes with a modest stat line.
Stat Prediction: 215 passing yards, 35 rushing yards, 2 TD
Despite starting just 11 games this season (including the playoffs), Peyton Manning attempted at least 35 passes more frequently than Newton (seven to five).
So while Manning's production has dipped, the offense still clearly runs through him.
As good as the Panthers defense has been this season, a few teams were able to start shootouts with them. Four different quarterbacks threw for at least 300 yards against Carolina this season, including Matt Ryan, who was 23-of-30 for 306 yards in the Atlanta Falcons' Week 16 victory.
We likely won't see vintage Manning show up, but he will have some opportunities to make plays against the Panthers defense.
Stat prediction: 275 passing yards, 2 TD, 1 INT
Super Bowl Prediction
One of the fascinating storylines on game day will be how the inexperienced Panthers handle the pressure of the Super Bowl, especially if it's a close game late in the second half.
Many of the Broncos, most notably Manning, have significant playoff experience, while this has been the first deep playoff run for the majority of the players on the Carolina sideline.
Due to the experience factor, if the Broncos are within striking distance late in the game, it's reasonable to pick them to win. But will the game even reach that point?
Carolina's offense is cruising, its defense is good enough to slow an average Broncos offense and it should be capable of jumping out to an early lead.
This game will be the passing of the torch from Manning to Newton as the face of the NFL.
Prediction: Panthers 31, Broncos 20
