Falcao Considering Other Options After Madrid Move Falls Apart

Tuesday, Feb. 2

Dominic Fifield of the Guardian reported Falcao "must hope his agent, Jorge Mendes, succeeds in securing him a move to the Chinese Super League if he is to feature regularly for a club side again this season after the Colombian's hopes of returning to Spain were dashed on transfer deadline day."

Falcao Held Talks in Madrid

Monday, Feb. 1

"Spanish sources have told Telegraph Sport that Falcao has spent transfer deadline day in a Madrid hotel while his agent Jorge Mendes attempts to negotiate the complicated move with Atletico, Monaco and Chelsea," wrote Matt Law of the Telegraph.

Falcao Could Provide Intriguing Attacking Option

As Soccer Base noted, in 68 league appearances for Atletico, Falcao netted a staggering 52 goals.

Unfortunately for the Colombian, since leaving Atletico, where he was the finest No. 9 in world football, his career has been on the slide.

After a big-money move to Monaco, Falcao picked up a serious knee injury that ruled him out of the 2014 World Cup. The following season, he joined Manchester United on loan, although he endured a torrid spell at Old Trafford, looking like a shadow of the incredible poacher he once was, with just four goals in the entire season.

At Chelsea, it’s been a similar story, having made just nine league appearances for the Blues and scoring a solitary goal.

While it's clear Falcao isn't the player he once was, a change of scenery could possibly rejuvenate his career and lead to more scoring tallies.
