The men's draw saw something of a shock as the second week of the 2016 Australian Open got underway on Monday, with world No. 4 Stan Wawrinka losing out to Milos Raonic in the fourth round.

The 2014 champion was expected by many to go deep this year in Melbourne, but his campaign was brought to an end by Canada's Raonic in a five-set thriller—the final result was 6-4, 6-3, 5-7, 4-6, 6-3.

The 13th seed will face Gael Monfils in the last eight of the men's draw after the Frenchman saw off Andrey Kuznetsov in four sets in his fourth round.

Andy Murray also booked his quarter-final place on Monday, as he beat Bernard Tomic 6-4, 6-4, 7-6(4). The Scot will face David Ferrer following the eighth seed's win over John Isner.

In the women's draw, Angelique Kerber eased through her last-16 encounter against fellow German Annika Beck, while Victoria Azarenka beat Barbora Strycova.

Here is all the information on how to catch up with an exciting day of action at the Australian Open.

Raonic Makes History

It was an historic win for Raonic as he broke new ground for a Canadian at Grand Slams, per William Hill Betting:

Going into the final set, it looked as though Wawrinka had all the momentum, the Swiss having come back from two sets down to level the encounter.

However, Raonic rallied well and claimed a key break to take the advantage while not giving Wawrinka a single chance to level on his serve. Eurosport UK TV provided the winning moment:

The world No. 14 deserved the victory. He hit 82 winners to Wawrinka's 52, and his first-serve percentage was just shy of 70 per cent over the 224 minutes, per the Australian Open.

Raonic has started the year in impressive fashion, winning the Brisbane International earlier this month with a victory over Roger Federer in the final.

He will be the favourite to make the semi-finals against 23rd seed Monfils, and the New York Times' Ben Rothenberg believes the 25-year-old could be a finalist in Melbourne this year:

That is some way off yet, but Raonic certainly impressed on Monday to take down Wawrinka, and he will have terrific momentum heading further into the second week.

Azarenka Sets Up Kerber Clash

Former world No. 1 Azarenka has won the Australian Open twice, in 2012 and 2013.

She now has an excellent chance of reaching her first Grand Slam semi-final in three years, as, per BBC Sport, she will face in the last eight a player to whom she has never lost: Kerber.

The Belarusian had eased through her first three rounds, dropping only five games in total, per the Australian Open.

She had a slightly tougher time of it against the Czech Republic's Strycova, but she still won 6-2, 6-4 in just under an hour and a half.

The 14th seed did not lose her serve once in the match—saving two break points in total—and pounced when necessary to earn the victory, and she is clearly enjoying her tennis, per the Australian Open:

Kerber will be no pushover, though. The seventh seed cruised to victory over Beck, winning the opening set 6-4 before producing a crushing 6-0 victory in the second.
