J.J. Watt Named 2015 PFWA Defensive Player of the Year: Comments, Reaction
Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt is collecting more accolades for his dazzling play, winning the Pro Football Writers of America Defensive Player of the Year award.
According to the PFWA's official Twitter account, Watt has captured the honor for the second consecutive season.
It's getting hard to find adjectives that describe Watt's play. He's arguably the NFL's most unstoppable player, regardless of position, and impacts the game in multiple ways from the defensive line.

Watt led the NFL in sacks this season with 17.5, though he got off to a slow start by his standards with four through Houston's first six games. He caught fire during the second half of the year, recording 13.5 over the final 10 games, including three in the Texans' AFC South-clinching win against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 17.
According to Ben Stockwell of Pro Football Focus, even when Watt's sack totals seem to be diminished, he's still causing all sorts of problems in the opposing backfield.
"Watt’s 91 pressures this season—he fared well not just from the interior but out on the edge, where he played more—takes his total over the last four seasons to 378," Stockwell wrote. "That is a remarkable tally and a gold standard for consistency among NFL pass-rushers."
The Texans had many problems on offense this season, most revolving around the quarterback position. They started four different players at the position due to injuries or poor performance yet still managed to win their division and make the playoffs.
Watt continues to find new ways to increase his performance. He's the NFL's best pass-rusher, acts as another defensive back with his ability to swat down passes from the opposing quarterback and is always in the right position to make a play.
At just 26 years old, he will be in the mix for Defensive Player of the Year awards for a long time. Even with talented young players entering the NFL every year, Houston's superstar remains the gold standard all defenders will be measured against.
