Pro—The Crowd Will Go Nuts
Royal Rumble is all about moments that make the crowd go crazy. Unfortunately, given the winners in the past two years, those moments have been seriously lacking over recent times.
Balor debuting this Sunday would be an electrifying moment, especially given how WWE is short of legitimate top talent that the crowd cares about.
His entrance is encapsulating to say the least, and if the lights dropped and Balor's music hit, it would provide fans with a genuine moment to remember.
Give Balor his opportunity to not only make an entrance but steal the show in the match, and it'll be simply spectacular.
Con—WWE Could Waste His Debut
It's hard to know whether to trust WWE Creative and its plans for any show right about now.
Balor debuting on the main roster in the Royal Rumble match would be an unforgettable moment, but the company could really screw up what is an important moment for someone like him.
He seems ready for the step up for sure, but what if WWE pulls a Daniel Bryan moment from last year and has him eliminated ridiculously early?
Balor will then be trusted to hurry off back to NXT with no future plans and once again have to carry the developmental brand on the back of a disappointing debut on the main roster.
It's a pretty worrying thought for someone like Balor, who's given NXT everything over the past year.
Pro—He's Ready To Step Up
Make no mistake about it, Balor is ready for the main roster.
There seems to be an overwhelming amount of spots for the Irishman to fill on the main roster, whether that be as a babyface or as a heel.
He's been a magnificent servant for NXT lately, and there have been guys who have stepped up to the main roster before Balor that didn't seem as ready as he is now.
He has the full package—he has the interesting gimmick, the mic skills and obviously the in-ring ability, which is to be marveled at.
If WWE has concrete plans on its hands for Balor for the longer term, then now is the time. He's ready.
Con—NXT Might Not Be Ready to Let Him Go
Sure, NXT might be about to get an influx of new stars—but that doesn't mean it's ready to let it's prized asset go.
There is still Sami Zayn and Samoa Joe at the head of the brand, but Balor has been so marvelous for NXT it will be hard to give him up.
What happens if NXT suffers as a result of Balor departing and heading off to the main roster, especially if WWE makes a mess of his run on it?
This is a huge decision for the company to make. A one-off appearance in the Rumble is one thing, but if NXT isn't ready to let him go, it could be the wrong move.
