NFL Draft 2016: Latest Mock Draft Predictions for Top Prospects of Round 1
The 2016 NFL draft is 100 days away, which sounds like a perfect time for a first-round mock. Of course it's never too early to speculate where the top college prospects will land, but there should be plenty of movement over the next three-and-a-half months as player evaluations heat up.
In fact, teams may even be switching their picks at the last minute based on whether or not they want to go with their greatest need or the best player available.
Here's a look at complete first-round predictions as well as a closer analysis of three top picks:

Cowboys Need Some Insurance at Quarterback
California Golden Bears quarterback Jared Goff has bounced from No. 1 overall on expert "big boards" to middle of the pack and now back into the top five. A big reason he dropped was his five-interception performance Oct. 10 in a loss to the Utah Utes. However, he bounced back nicely, throwing 26 touchdowns and just four interceptions the rest of the season.
Rob Rang of CBSSports.com, who ranks Goff No. 6 overall, said his late-season performance solidified his spot as a top-five pick:
"Anything less than a sparkling performance against Air Force in the Armed Forces Bowl would have sent up red flags. Goff sealed the deal in completing 25 of 37 passes for 467 yards and six touchdowns without an interception to give Cal its first bowl win since 2008. Sure, coach Sonny Dykes' uptempo spread offense has inflated Goff's production but of the quarterbacks potentially available in the 2016 draft, the lanky junior offers the best combination of awareness, functional mobility, accuracy and toughness -- the traits I believe are the best indicators of future success at this position for the NFL.
"
ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. also is high on the 6'4", 210-pound quarterback, pegging him as the second pick to the Cleveland Browns. That franchise desperately needs a signal-caller, but Ohio State defensive end Joey Bosa is too good to pass at No. 2.
The Dallas Cowboys make perfect sense for Goff at No. 4. Sure, they have other needs, but if it wasn't evident they missed Tony Romo this season, just look at their 3-1 record when he started under center and 1-11 mark when he was on the bench due to injury.
| 2013 | 320 | 530 | 3,508 | 18 | 10 |
| 2014 | 316 | 509 | 3,973 | 35 | 7 |
| 2015 | 341 | 529 | 4,714 | 43 | 13 |
At 35, Romo likely won't be around in Dallas much longer, but even if he does start for another three or four years, it wouldn't be a bad thing for Goff to sit behind him and learn—that approach seemed to work out for another Cal quarterback by the name of Aaron Rodgers.
Myles, Jack of All Trades
Myles Jack played just three games at outside linebacker for the UCLA Bruins in 2015 after suffering a season-ending knee injury, but he is still considered one of the best overall prospects in the draft, per Rang.
"The NFL will have to carefully evaluate Jack's health after UCLA announced Oct. 6 that the true junior was leaving for the pros despite suffering a season-ending knee injury. The decision was bold but not reckless. Put simply, Jack is a "natural" whose fluidity, instincts and knack for game-breaking plays made him the only player in Pac-12 history to be named both the Offensive and Defensive Freshman of the Year in 2013. Given Jack's talent and the gains made in player recovery from surgeries, Jack remains very much in the early-first-round conversation despite his injury.
"
His agent, former NFL player John Thornton of Octagon Sports, posted this video last week of Jack on his road to recovery:

The talented linebacker could certainly go earlier than No. 11 to the Chicago Bears, but fear of the major injury could force him to drop below his grade. His amazing versatility, one that allowed him to rush for 387 yards and 11 touchdowns while also playing linebacker, should help him fit into any defensive system.
Chicago needs help on defense pretty much everywhere, and taking Jack will give it a superior athlete who can cover extremely well for a linebacker, as evidenced by his 19 career passes defended and four career interceptions.
Welcome to L.A., Mr. Coleman
Former Baylor Bears wide receiver Corey Coleman stands just 5'11" and checks in at 190 pounds, but don't let his size fool you.
He caught an FBS-high 20 touchdowns in 2015 despite missing his team's bowl game with a sports hernia. He clearly wasn't 100 percent down the stretch after his amazing start to the season came back to earth with a pedestrian final four games.
| First 8 games | 58 | 1,178 | 20.3 | 20 |
| Final 4 games | 16 | 185 | 11.6 | 0 |
| Total | 74 | 1,363 | 18.4 | 20 |
Even though CBSSports.com has him listed as the No. 2 receiver prospect in the draft, behind Ole Miss Rebels' Laquon Treadwell, some experts have him graded as a fringe first-round pick.
The Los Angeles Rams are starting over in a new city, and Coleman could bring back memories of the Greatest Show on Turf—even if that was in St. Louis.
Lance Zierlein of NFL.com said the first issue the Rams need to address is wide receiver, although they still have plenty of issues at other positions.
"Another year, another draft in which the Rams need to find a wide receiver they can build their passing game around because that guy doesn't appear to be on the roster—still. Even if the Rams finally find a true WR1, do they have a quarterback they trust to build around?"
Again, Coleman isn't going to address all their concerns, but if the Rams can find a quarterback in the later rounds, they will now have an explosive young running back in Todd Gurley and a speedy wide receiver who can stretch the field in Coleman.
His former coach at Baylor, Art Briles, called him a "bad dude," per BaylorVision:
"See more of Corey Coleman's Biletnikoff season on the @BUFootball @RussellAthBowl preview at 5 pm on @FOXSportsSW pic.twitter.com/QKiHfNq868
— BaylorVision (@BaylorVisionHD) December 28, 2015"
It's a bit risky with so much talent still on the board, but sometimes that's what it takes to build a winner. The Rams took a bit of a risk in the first round last year at No. 10, drafting Gurley after a major injury, and he rewarded them with the third-best rushing performance in the NFC with 1,106 yards and 10 touchdowns.
