Best Booking Options for Sheamus, League of Nations at WWE Royal Rumble 2016

Sebastian MaldonadoJan 14, 2016

Sheamus finally has his own group, the League of Nations, and it’s holding up so far.

The League of Nations is an illustrious group consisting of heavy hitters. Sheamus, Alberto Del Rio, Rusev and King Barrett hold quite the presence ever since their inception last November.

Del Rio is a three-time former world heavyweight champion and U.S. champion. Rusev is also a former U.S. champ, while Barrett is the 2015 King of the Ring and former Intercontinental Championship winner.

Each man could make an appearance in the Royal Rumble, which takes place Sunday, January 24. The Rumble bout will be for Roman Reigns’ WWE world heavyweight title. Each member is expected to enter the match with the exceptions of Barrett and Rusev.

The King of the Ring is reportedly out with a nerve injury in his neck according to Pro Wrestling Sheet via the Inquisitr. Rusev also is dealing with an undisclosed knee injury (report from Wrestling Observer Radio via WrestleZone) and hasn’t been seen for a few weeks.

In fact, neither man was involved in this past week's Monday Night Raw.

Though both Shamus and Del Rio have not officially entered the Royal Rumble, the two men eventually will—it’s inevitable.

The two former champions would love nothing more than to bring the WWE world title to the League of Nations. The question is a simple one: Will they be on the same page or implode over glory?

This leaves us to play booker. It’s time to speculate the best booking options for Sheamus and the League of Nations for the Royal Rumble!

For starters, they need to look dominant if all four men are healthy. If Barrett and Rusev can heal before the Rumble bout, they can make the League of Nations a formidable force.

Both Barrett and Rusev can enter under surprise entrants and help their fellow members dominate the Royal Rumble.

The stakes are too high, and The League of Nations need to control the pace if all four men are cleared to compete.

It’s also more than likely surprise entrants can ruin their game plans. They already have to contend with the likes of Reigns, Chris Jericho, Big Show, Ryback and Brock Lesnar. These five guys are formidable on their own and have no love loss for The League.

The best bet in this bout is to book them strong. Let Del Rio be the first man out. Then have Rusev and Barrett follow him in that order. Leave Sheamus for last since he’s the leader and the powerhouse of the group.

Have them dominate and eliminate notable contenders. They can toss Show, Ryback and/or Jericho over the top rope.

This leaves us to their demise. No, they won’t succeed in bringing the title back to their stable.

There are too many WWE Superstars after their heads. Perhaps Kalisto can eliminate Del Rio and continue their gestating feud. This would leave the rest to Reigns and/or Lesnar. Those two would likely finish the group off before squaring off against each other.

Frankly, the key is to book The League of Nations strong and not as a weak force. WWE Creative cannot drop the ball and book them as pushovers, especially with this bout being for the richest prize in the WWE world title.

The League of Nations won’t back down from a fight. If it's in the Royal Rumble at full capacity and intensity, expect a dominant force for the greater part of this anticipated bout. Otherwise, all bets are off for this wrestling stable.
