South Florida-Florida State: Bulls Will Battle FSU For a "Big Three" Berth

The day that the University of South Florida has waited for is rapidly approaching.

For years now, USF has coveted a spot among the state's BIG THREE teams. That would be Florida, Miami, and Florida State.  Those schools have earned their acclaim. All have multiple national championships.

Now comes the University of South Florida Bulls.

These Bulls should listen closely to wrestling icon Ric Flair.

If USF wants to be in the Big Three, then it better BEAT someone in the Big Three.

Now those inside the program are throwing out some banter about four major teams in the state, with the Bulls being that fourth player.

Sorry guys, it's the Big Three, always will be. If you want in, then win your way in—it's that simple.

USF will have two chances this year, the first on Saturday at Doak Campbell Stadium. It's a high noon showdown with the Seminoles, the heavily-favored Seminoles, the two touchdown favorite Seminoles.

The second chance comes toward season's end, when USF hosts Miami. By then, USF will know pretty much how it stands among the Big East powers, and that's another wall this team has yet to climb.

Coach Jim Leavitt is trying his darndest to expand that Big Three, implying that his team is in the same room, "but in the back of the room."

Unless USF can play its absolute best and pull off the upset, it may have to stay in the back of the room.

The Big Three have the pedigree. USF hasn't threatened the Big East yet.

Still, USF has been looking forward to this day, this day being Saturday.

And they'll finally get what they've been wishing for.

But remember, you gotta beat The Man, to be The Man.
