Cowboys Reportedly Propose Ownership Vote to Send Chargers, Rams to LA

It appears things are moving toward sending multiple teams to Los Angeles, with the San Diego Chargers and St. Louis Rams possibly heading that way.

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the Dallas Cowboys "proposed a measure for ownership vote that would send the Chargers with the Rams to Inglewood," where the teams have proposed to build a new NFL stadium. 

The Chargers, Rams and Oakland Raiders all filed for relocation to Los Angeles earlier in the week, according to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune. 

La Canfora added the three teams have until Monday (Jan. 11) morning to sign their final economic term sheets for relocation. 

Complicating matters, though, La Canfora reported the Chargers and Raiders have been tied together on a football stadium in Carson, California, but noted "many owners strongly prefer a Rams/Chargers coupling" even though the two franchises have "trust issues."

The NFL's official statement on the three teams looking to relocate would have their applications looked at during a league meeting in Houston on Jan. 12 and 13, per NFL.com's Ian Rapoport:

Proposals have been in place for separate NFL stadiums to be built in Carson and Inglewood, with Carson to serve as the joint home for the Chargers and Raiders and Inglewood land being owned by Rams owner Stan Kroenke. 

B/R's Jason Cole reported in April that Goldman Sachs representatives told the NFL the Carson stadium could be completed with one team, meaning it wouldn't need both the Chargers and Raiders. 

The NFL hasn't had a team in Los Angeles since 1994 when the Raiders and Rams left for the current residencies. The league has been rumored to want a team in the city for years, with this being the closest anyone has come in the 22 years since professional football left the City of Angels.
