Jack Conklin Declares for 2016 NFL Draft: Latest Comments and Reaction

Timothy RappJan 6, 2016

Michigan State junior offensive tackle Jack Conklin will forgo his senior season and enter the NFL draft, according to the school.

“The decision to forgo my final year was a very difficult decision,” Conklin said, per MSUSpartans.com. “I took time to talk to my family and the coaches to find out what the best decision would be for me. Ultimately, my family and I felt it was time to take the next step and start training for the NFL. I’m excited about it."

Conklin was a three-year starter for the Spartans, starting 38 games and helping lead the school to two Big Ten championships and two bowl wins. He was a first-team All-Big Ten selection and second-team Associated Press All-America selection in 2015 as the Spartans reached the College Football Playoff.

It was an impressive college career for the former walk-on.

Conklin is a first-round talent and could be selected within the first 20 picks of the draft, per Matt Miller of Bleacher Report. Whichever team drafts him will be getting a talented, physical, hard-working player who won't take his position on the team for granted.
