Liverpool Transfer News: Ben Chilwell and Saido Berahino Bid Rumours Emerge
Liverpool are reportedly weighing up a possible £4 million move for Leicester City’s promising full-back Ben Chilwell.
According to an exclusive story from John Percy in the Daily Telegraph, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is seeking to add more young players to the squad and rates the 19-year-old left-back highly. Chilwell is currently on loan at Huddersfield Town from the Foxes but is expected to have a very bright future in the game.
“Chilwell is now emerging as a priority and Klopp has been told that he would be ready for the first team if a deal was struck,” continued Percy, who also noted that Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in the teenager.

However, it’s claimed the Foxes are keen to integrate Chilwell into the starting XI from January should he return from his loan spell.

Liverpool’s main option at left-back currently is Alberto Moreno, who continues to divide supporters. However, as we can see here courtesy of STATS Football, the Spaniard is a constant attacking presence:

It’s important to plan for the future and aside from out-of-favour Jose Enrique and young Joe Gomez, who is out for the season with an injury, there is no natural cover for the former Sevilla star.

Nevertheless, for Chilwell it’d be a big move to make at such a young age and, as noted by Percy, Leicester have no intention of letting him leave the club in the future. For the time being, the teenager needs to focus on getting regular minutes under his belt at the John Smith's Stadium and then breaking into the Foxes first team.
Saido Berahino Rumours

According to Spanish website Fichajes (h/t Kristian Walsh of the Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are to rival Tottenham in pursuit of West Bromwich Albion’s out-of-favour forward Saido Berahino.
The piece suggested a £23.5 million fee is close to being agreed and the Reds are hoping “the fee offered will blow other interested parties out of the water.” As noted by football journalist Seb Stafford-Bloor, the young striker has hardly featured for the Baggies as of late:
All is definitely not well with Berahino at the Hawthorns. The 22-year-old made his feelings clear on social media during the summer when he was not allowed to leave the club, insisting he would never play for them again, per David Hynter of the Guardian.

He has featured at times this season, scoring the winning goal for West Brom in a win away at rivals Aston Villa, but the striker has been pulled out of the firing line once again for recent games.
Manager Tony Pulis most recently claimed that Berahino was “lucky” to even be on the bench for this team, insisting “he lets himself down at times,” per BBC Sport.
As noted by Daniel Storey of Football 365, Pulis is turning to far less glamorous options to lead the line instead of Berahino:
If Liverpool are interested in the forward, the signs of a bad attitude will no doubt be a concern, especially given just how much Berahino would potentially cost.
However, there is little doubting the striker’s ability and with a manager like Klopp working with him on a day-to-day basis, he could become one of the Premier League’s most feared forwards.
