Kenny Clark Declares for 2016 NFL Draft: Latest Comments and Reaction
UCLA Bruins junior defensive tackle Kenny Clark will skip his senior season and enter the 2016 NFL draft, per ESPN college football insider Brett McMurphy.
Clark confirmed the news Monday on Twitter:
Clark recorded 73 total tackles, 10.5 for a loss, and added 5.5 sacks in 13 games for the Bruins during the 2015 season.
In his final game at UCLA, he had 11 tackles and a sack in a 37-29 loss to the Nebraska Cornhuskers in the Foster Farms Bowl.
Clark was a force in the middle for UCLA his first two seasons, totaling 86 tackles. However, his sack total dramatically increased this past year after having just one combined sack during his freshman and sophomore campaigns.
NFL Media's Bucky Brooks had high praise for Clark after watching him on film as well as seeing his performance against Nebraska:
"It is hard to find 6'-3'', 310-pound defensive tackles with nimble feet and explosive agility, but Clark is a rare find as a nose tackle. He plays with outstanding balance and body control at the point of attack, exhibiting an uncanny feel for staying on his feet while working through traffic. Although Clark's game is built around a series of power maneuvers (bull rush and forklift) that allow him to play on the opponent's side of the line of scrimmage, he flashes enough lateral quickness and burst to run and chase within the "tackle-to-tackle" box.
"
CBSSports.com lists the 6'2", 310-pound Clark as the fourth-best defensive tackle prospect in the draft and projects him as a first-round pick.
