The Way I See It: A Look at The Top 25 (Week 4)
I like to see a few games played before I put out my Top 25. This will be a weekly installment throughout the rest of the season and into the bowls.
1. Texas 3-0: This team is still working out some kinks on both sides of the ball. They get the nod over Florida right now, based on not playing a FCS school. Next: UTEP
2. Florida 3-0: They didn’t beat Tennessee by 100 like some fans would have wanted, but a win is a win. Next: Kentucky
3. Alabama 3-0: They’ve looked impressive except for the first half of the FIU game. Next: Arkansas
4. Ole Miss 3-0: So far they’ve lived up to their preseason billing, lets see if it continues. Next: South Carolina
5. California 3-0: They went into Minnesota and handled business. Jahvid Best is the best running back in the country and a serious Heisman contender. Next: Oregon
6. Penn State 3-0: I’ve been waiting to see how they perform when they play some talent. We get to see that this weekend. Next: Iowa
7. LSU 3-0: This team is quietly making their way through the season; expect them to be a force in the SEC West. Next: Mississippi State
8. Virginia Tech 2-1: Coming off a big win over Nebraska, they get tested again with Da U. Next: Miami
9. Oklahoma 2-1: That loss to BYU looks even worse right now, but Landry Jones has been a nice surprise. Next: Miami (Oct. 3)
10. Boise State 3-0: Will they last man standing in the Top 15 for Non-BCS teams? Next: Bowling Green
11. TCU 2-0: The defense is always good, and they’ve shown they have a good offense too. They’ll need both this weekend. Next: Clemson
12. Ohio State 2-1: The defense is ready for a Big Ten Title run, but is the offense? Next: Illinois
13. Oklahoma State 2-1: The offense is what we expected, unfortunately so is the defense. Next: Grambling State
14. Miami 2-0: Da U is back in the college ranks, but is it back to prominence? Next: VaTech
15. Cincinnati 3-0: The offense is good, defense is too. The Big East Title repeat is a possibility. Next: Fresno State
16. Kansas 3-0: The team in the Big 12 no one is talking about. They’d better start Reesing has 806 yards and 8 tds already.
17. Michigan 3-0: They’ve already tied last year’s mark, look for more of the same. Next: Indiana
18. UCLA 3-0: They beat a good Tennessee team at home, and have improved from last year’s team. Don’t be surprised if they beat the big boys in the Pac 10. Next: Stanford (Oct 3)
19. Southern California 2-1: This team got a lucky call on that touchdown against OSU. Without that they are 1-2. This is Pete’s worse team in awhile. Next: Washington State
20. Nebraska 2-1: Last week was a tough loss, however don’t expect to many of those this season. The Blackshirt D has only given up 27 pts all season. Next: Louisiana Lafayette
21. Houston 2-0: A big win over a Big 12 opponent gets them the nod here. Can they do it again? Next: Texas Tech
22. Missouri 3-0: No one expected much out of them, and they proved us wrong so far: Next: Furman
23. Florida State 2-1: A big win over BYU gets them back in my rankings. They get an instate foe this week. Next University of South Florida
24. University of North Carolina 3-0: They’ve built a team up there in Chapel Hill now how will they finish? Next: Georgia Tech
25. Auburn 3-0: We knew they usually have a defense, but where did this offense come from? Next: Ball State
