After a 12-20 start to the 2015-16 season, the Phoenix Suns have decided to fire assistant coaches Mike Longabardi and Jerry Sichting.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports first reported the moves on Sunday, and the Suns confirmed the firings on Monday.

Wojnarowski said head coach Jeff Hornacek's future is unclear. The team will promote Nate Bjorkgren and Earl Watson to the bench to replace the two fired coaches, per ESPN.com's Marc Stein

The Suns hit rock-bottom Dec. 26 after becoming just the second team to lose to the Philadelphia 76ers in 32 games this season—in a humiliating 111-104 home defeat.

Hornacek didn't mince words after the loss, per the Associated Press (via ESPN.com).

"Obviously it's probably a low point for us," Hornacek said. "This last stretch I think we lost a little bit of confidence. We're going to keep working and try to get to the point where we're winning some of these games."

It was the fourth loss in a row—and sixth in the past seven games—for a team that started the season 6-4.

Although he reported the team has yet to decide Hornacek's fate, Stein thinks the firings are a warning sign from the Suns brass to the third-year coach:

It comes at a tough time for Hornacek and the Suns, as they are set to take the court against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday before starting a four-game road trip with games against the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder.

Hornacek is 99-97 in two-plus seasons with the Suns after finishing 39-43 last year.
