NFL Draft 2016: Latest 1st-Round Order and Mock Draft After Week 16
As the NFL season draws to a close, the 2016 draft order is starting to take shape. Of course, Week 17 will shift the order some, as will the Week 16 Monday Night Football game.
Each year, the 12 teams that make the playoffs take up spots 21-32 even if a team has a worse record than one that did not qualify for the postseason. Playoff teams are then sorted by the round they are eliminated in during the playoffs.
This mock indicates a Super Bowl matchup of the Arizona Cardinals and Cincinnati Bengals. Let's take a look at some first-round projections, with a deeper take on a couple of SEC teammates.

No. 1: Laremy Tunsil, OT, Tennessee Titans

This pick makes perfect sense for a struggling Tennessee Titans squad. Quarterback Marcus Mariota is the future of the franchise, so protecting him should be a top priority, per Lance Zierlein of NFL.com.
"The Titans look like they were able to hit with their selection of Marcus Mariota, but the best way to help him build his confidence and grow as a quarterback is to make sure he is surrounded with a balanced attack and quality tackle play to keep him protected," Zierlein wrote.
Enter 6'5'', 305-pound Laremy Tunsil.
Draft expert Dan Brugler of CBSSports.com listed the following as positives for the Ole Miss Rebels tackle:
"Quick off the snap with tremendous lower-body flexibility. He does a tremendous job staying square to defenders, sinking in his kickslide to handle speed and absorb power at the point of attack. Comes to balance on the move and peppering rushers with a quick punch.
Tunsil doesn't have a passive bone in his body and boasts the body control to protect the edge and get out in space. Recognizes extra pressures and quickly picks up defenders on combo blocks.
"
Brugler listed Tunsil's 2014 injury as a negative, as well as the fact he can be "over-eager at times and needs to iron out some inconsistency in his play."
That sounds like something coaches could work with him on and turn him into a top tackle in the NFL. His lower-body technique is already sound, per Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Network:
Taking an offensive lineman No. 1 overall isn't a fan's dream come true, but the St. Louis Rams struck gold in 1997 by taking Orlando Pace out of Ohio State, and the Titans need to do something about their dismal 50 sacks allowed.
No. 12: Laquon Treadwell, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers need major help on defense, but adding another piece to help former No. 1 overall pick Jameis Winston would be smart, too.
Winston has shown flashes of becoming a solid starting quarterback in the NFL, and he already has a 1,000-yard receiver in Mike Evans. Adding Laquon Treadwell, a 6'2'', 210-pound teammate of Tunsil at Ole Miss, could make for a top passing game in the NFC.
Brugler had high praise for the receiver in his draft profile:
"One of the most physically gifted receivers at the college level even when he was a freshman. Even when covered, he's not covered due to his size, hand strength and catching radius to physically dominate defensive backs. Treadwell always picks up more yardage than he should after the catch due to his power and athleticism.
"
He backed that up with video of Treadwell making a touchdown catch with a defender draped all over him, per 247Sports:
As Brugler pointed out, Treadwell suffered a gruesome and serious knee injury in 2014, but he bounced back this year to haul in 76 passes for 1,082 yards and eight touchdowns heading into his team's bowl game.
Whether he lands with the Bucs or another team, he will upgrade any receiving corps he joins.
