Nuggets Rule Nelson Out vs. Suns

Wednesday, Dec. 23

According to Paul Coro of the Arizona Republic, the Nuggets will start Randy Foye at point guard against the Phoenix Suns because Nelson and rookie Emmanuel Mudiay are unable to go.

Earlier in the day, Harrison Wind of BSN Denver reported Nelson was listed as probable for Wednesday's game because of an illness.

Nelson has appeared in 26 games for the Nuggets this season, starting five times, and is averaging eight points and 4.7 assists per game. His shooting remains a problem, connecting on just 38.1 percent of his attempts, but the Nuggets are short-handed at the position right now and could use his veteran presence.

The Nuggets, who have lost three straight games entering Wednesday, don't have another point guard listed on the depth chart after Mudiay and Nelson. Foye has been primarily a bench player this season, so head coach Mike Malone will likely call on Gary Harris and Will Barton to help run the offense.
