RG3 Expected to Be Cut
Monday, Jan. 11
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported the Redskins will release Griffin now that they've been eliminated from the playoffs, but it is uncertain exactly when it will happen. Rapoport added that it "was important to owner Dan Snyder [that Griffin was] on the team all year."
Following Rapoport's report, Tarik El-Bashir of CSN Mid-Atlantic captured an image of Griffin cleaning out his locker after declining to speak to the media, while CSNMidAtlantic.com provided video:

Potential Destinations for Griffin
Sunday, Dec. 20
Rapoport reported that the Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles, Houston Texans and New Orleans Saints could be potential landing spots for Griffin next season.
Where RG3 Fits in 2016
Washington announced in April it had exercised the fifth-year option in Griffin's rookie contract for 2016. But he did not take a single snap for the team during the regular season, and his cap hit for next year is valued at $16.155 million.
When Washington general manager Scot McCloughan spoke after the team picked up Griffin's option, he was enthusiastic about the former first-round pick's ability to turn things around with a second year in head coach Jay Gruden's offense, per ESPN.com.
"He's a good football player," McCloughan said in April. "He's got the tape out there. Everyone knows what he did in [2012] when he was Offensive Rookie of the Year. This offseason will be his second in the system, being healthy, being able to go through the offseason."
However, after Washington made it through the preseason, Gruden named Kirk Cousins the team's starting quarterback, and Griffin did not get into a regular-season game in 2015. RG3 was a healthy scratch multiple times, with Cousins and Colt McCoy ahead of him on the depth chart.
All of the teams Rapoport listed as potential landing spots for Griffin have significant quarterback questions heading into next season.
Sam Bradford is an impending free agent for the Eagles. The Texans have had a revolving door at the position for years, with Brian Hoyer, Ryan Mallett and T.J. Yates all starting games this season. The Cowboys found out what life is like without Tony Romo this season.
Meanwhile, the Saints face a huge decision with Drew Brees. Brees has a $30 million cap hit in 2016, per Spotrac, so the Saints may be in the market for a new quarterback anyway.
Despite the constant circus around him, Griffin is just 25 years old and has had two seasons in which he's completed over 65 percent of his passes.
There aren't enough quality quarterbacks to fill every vacancy in the NFL, so a young player who has experienced any kind of success will continue to get opportunities. Griffin needs a fresh start in a new city, so don't be surprised to see a big market for his services this offseason.
