Arsenal Transfer News: Latest on Adrien Rabiot, Lucas Moura, Top Gunners Rumours

Christopher SimpsonDec 19, 2015

Arsenal have been dealt a double blow in their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot, as Serie A giants Juventus are reportedly interested in him while club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has assured fans he's set to stay in the French capital.

The Gunners have been linked with a January move for the Frenchman, per the Daily Star's Alex Harris. However, Calciomercato has exclusively reported the Bianconeri "are back in the hunt" for him and noted on Saturday morning they "have been in constant contact with Rabiot's entourage over the past few hours."

The 20-year-old is not normally a regular starter with Les Parisiens and is hoping for a move away in the winter window despite earning a run in the team with Marco Verratti injured, per French football writer Matt Spiro:

Rabiot would be a useful signing for the Gunners, particularly amid their current injury problems in midfield, as he is a solid performer in central midfield, capable of helping out both defensively and offensively.

However, according to an exclusive from Romain Schneider of French outlet Le Figaro (h/t ESPN FC), Al-Khelaifi said:

"

I was very disappointedI said it to his face. His statements are unacceptable. I didn't appreciate at all that he declared that a loan would be a Christmas present. It's a complete lack of respect towards his first club who did so much for him.

He's 20 years old, plays regularly in a big team. He's come through the youth academythe club has given him a lot. I'll never accept that he considers himself more important than the club.

The club will always be more important than any player. He's a big talent. My dream is that he might become captain of PSG one day. But he has to respect the club, the coach and his team-mates.

He's part of the PSG family and he should respect it. He understood the message. He'll be there at 100 percent in January.

"

The message is clear—the youngster won't be on the move, whether it's to Turin or north London.

The Gunners are also reportedly interested in Paris Saint-Germain's Lucas Moura and could be set to offer "up to £22 million" for him in January, per Calciomercato (h/t Aaron Flanagan of the Mirror).

Moura has made 23 appearances this season but has often been used from the bench and has completed a full game just four times.

He has still scored six times and provided an assist, and the technically gifted Brazilian is a handful for defenders to deal with thanks to his exceptional dribbling skills, per WhoScored.com:

However, as Bleacher Report's French football correspondent Andrew Gibney noted, he has not been at his best so far this season and is highly inconsistent.

With Arsenal in with a strong chance of winning the title this seasonsomething which will require good consistency, according to Arsenal boss Arsene WengerMoura isn't the kind of player they need to fire them to glory.

Until the 23-year-old can prove he's a reliable performer week-in, week-out, the Gunners might be best to steer clear.
