The 6-7 Tampa Bay Buccaneers are still alive in the race to make the NFC playoffs, but they probably need to win out to have a serious shot. That three-game run could start Thursday night when the Bucs go to the Show Me State to take on the 5-8 St. Louis Rams.

After a disappointing 24-17 loss at home against the New Orleans Saints in Week 14, the Bucs are looking to bounce back. Head coach Lovie Smith spoke to the media on Monday morning, per Scott Smith of the team's official website. The coach said, "Sometimes you think you're ready, and it turns out you're not."

For just the second time all season, the Bucs didn't force a turnover. That's always been a key statistic for teams Smith has coached. Undoubtedly, they will be looking to get back to securing takeaways against the Rams.

St. Louis snapped a five-game losing streak with its 21-14 win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday. The Rams are tied for 21st in the NFL with 21 giveaways. It would appear St. Louis might be one of the ideal opponents for the Bucs to face as they try to regain their knack for forcing turnovers.

Saturday Night in Big D

During Weeks 15 and 16, there will be Saturday night contests. This week's Saturday game is far more intriguing than the meaningless Monday night tilt featuring the 4-9 Detroit Lions and the 5-8 New Orleans Saints.

The 8-5 New York Jets are among three teams (Pittsburgh Steelers and Kansas City Chiefs) with identical records in the AFC. While New York is currently in the last wild-card spot at the moment, it finishes the season with two tough division matchups against the New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills.

Because of that, it's imperative head coach Todd Bowles' team handles the short-handed and underachieving Dallas Cowboys.

The Jets are on a three-game winning streak after their dominant 30-8 win over the Tennessee Titans in Week 14. Dallas will be looking to play spoiler.

Cowboys quarterback Matt Cassel will need to prove he can handle the Jets' blitzing defense. According to Jean-Jacques Taylor of ESPN.com, "Cassel has had issues with the blitz, completing just 22 of 50 passes for 266 yards with a touchdown and an interception this season. He's been sacked seven times in those situations and has a passer rating of 59.3."

This could be where the game is won or lost.

Sunday Night Is for the Birds

Suddenly the 6-7 Philadelphia Eagles have won two games in a row. The only problem? Washington and the New York Giants have pulled things together as well, and all three teams are tied for the NFC East lead.

On Sunday night, the Eagles host the red-hot 11-2 Arizona Cardinals. Behind an awesome offense that is averaging 31.1 points per game, the Cards have won seven straight.

They have already clinched a playoff spot but are still embroiled in a battle for home-field advantage through the playoffs. A win over the Eagles would keep some pressure on the undefeated Carolina Panthers.

A victory would also clinch the No. 2 seed for the Cardinals, which would ensure they have at least one game at home in the playoffs.
