Adidas Announces Damian Lillard's Latest Signature Shoe: The D Lillard 2

Giancarlo Ferrari-KingDec 14, 2015

Today Adidas officially announced the arrival of Damian Lillard's second signature sneaker, the D Lillard 2.

Following up on the success of Lillard's debut shoe, the D Lillard 1, this second rendition was built to reflect the Portland Trail Blazers point guard's athletic ability and fierce, "hoop-slashing" skill set.

The whole base of the D Lillard 2 was crafted with a TECHFIT booty. Within that prominent mold, forefoot webbing and a heel counter were both installed in order to give consumers a more secure fit—something that had to be addressed, coming off the D Lillard 1 silhouette.

Keeping the trend of lighter sneakers alive and well, the D Lillard 2 also features Adidas' BOUNCE-cushioning platform. That means—besides constant layers of support oozing out of every corner, the shoe was able to remain lightweight.

There absolutely were no sacrifices made when it came to maintaining the integrity of Lillard's shoe. Credit goes to Adidas' design team for making sure of that.

The D Lillard 2 officially arrives online and in-store on January 22 in the form of a "Rip City," a colorway that features a smooth, textile-cream upper intermingled with a gum sole. That unique combination helps the shoe feature more of a casual look than being strictly dubbed an on-court performer.

For those who can't wait until the New Year, the "Rip City" edition will be sold in limited quantities on December 26, with select retailers serving as the middlemen.

After that, a second helping of the D Lillard 2 arrives on February 5. That's when the all-black "Road" colorway is set to surface.

Both versions will be dropping with a $105 price tag, which in today's world is an amazing value. Be on the lookout for future colorways as the calendar year of 2016 progresses.
