Liverpool Transfer News: Latest Players, Rumours Linked to Jurgen Klopp's Reds
Liverpool's expected capture of Kevin Grosskreutz appears to be wide of the mark, after reports claimed Celtic will rival manager Jurgen Klopp for the signature of his former player.
Neil Jones of the Liverpool Echo said the versatile defender, who also plays regularly in midfield, "won't be signing" for the Anfield giants, and he could switch to the Scottish champions as he is allegedly a fan of the club.
The Telegraph had declared Turkish reports indicated he would arrive on Merseyside in the next window.

However, Jones' report refutes any such suggestion, despite the player being available for a bargain £1.8 million price. Grosskreutz has sat on the sidelines in Istanbul for six months, unable to play for Galatasaray after a paperwork error, but it now appears he could be moving north of the border rather than the Premier League.
According to the Telegraph, the wide player is "pushing for an exit" from Cimbom, and he was tempted by a reunion with Klopp, who regularly used Grosskreutz in a variety of positions at BVB.
The German manager developed a core of talent at Dortmund, and West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis believes Klopp has been a revelation since arriving in England, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo's Andy Kelly:
"He’s got one of the best clubs in England, with some top, top players, so he’ll have the opportunity to push them on and progress. He’s had a good start, he looks bright and breezy and his command of the English language is excellent, so it looks like he’ll be here to stay."

In other news, Klopp has been "warned off" making an approach for Charlton Athletic teenage starlet Ademola Lookman, per Jones.
The youngster has turned heads at the Valley this year, and the Liverpool boss is monitoring the forward, along with Arsenal.
Here is a video of Lookman's recent endeavours, including a stunning curling shot against Colchester United:
Charlton manager Karel Fraeye described the youngster as "a smart boy," and he is convinced Lookman will remain with his club for the rest of the season and beyond, as quoted by Jones:
"No. Ademola has only been in first team football for a few weeks.
I am sure he will not be sold in January and be here for the long term.
He is a smart boy, Charlton as a club has six or seven academy boys against Brighton, if he wants to play regular football we are the club for him.
Ademola is on a two and a half year deal already. We are doing everything we need to do, we are responsible and we are very close to where we want to be.
"

Liverpool are looking for their next Raheem Sterling after taking him as a teenager from Queens Park Rangers and turning him into a global star.
Lookman is raw and needs plenty of development, but Klopp has a great record of producing attacking talent, and the teenager would benefit from training with Liverpool's senior forwards.
Grosskreutz would have been an excellent addition to the Reds squad, but it now appears he is destined to move to Glasgow.
The German international can add value as both a winger and a full-back, and at the quoted price, the 27-year-old would have been one of the bargains of Klopp's first season in charge.
