Twitter Hails Olivier Giroud's Hat-Trick to Put Arsenal into the Round of 16

Just like everyone expected, Olivier Giroud fired a hat-trick to put Arsenal into the knockout stages of the Champions League at Olypiakos on Wednesday night. 

OK, nobody expected Giroud to be the prolific Arsenal hero. 

With the Gunners needing a win in Greece by any scoreline other than 1-0 or 2-1, the inconsistent Frenchman put in a masterclass to mark an unlikely comeback for Arsenal after they dropped their first two group-stage matches. 

Mesut Ozil clearly liked what he saw:

Per usual, there were overreactions to Giroud's efforts, ranging from the satirical to the over-the-top. 

Some were at a loss for words, so they used Drake's instead.

Given his oft-infuriating form, there was a bit of surprise that he had a prolific night when it mattered most.

While Giroud was celebrated, many continued to poke fun at Manchester United's failure at Wolfsburg on a night when Arsenal and Chelsea sealed their place alongside Manchester City in the knockout stages. 

United will play on Thursdays in the Europa League.

Arsenal's record of advancing past the group stages are quite good.  

But then there was the voice of reason, as Arsenal haven't made it past the round of 16 since they fell to Barcelona in the 2010-11 season.
