Mayweather and Pacquiao Top Facebook's List of 2015's Most Talked-About Athletes

Joe GallagherDec 9, 2015

Facebook has revealed the most talked-about athletes and events of 2015 as part of its annual year in review.

Unsurprisingly, given the hype around the "Fight of the Century" in May, boxers Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao top the list.

UFC fighter Ronda Rousey checks in at No. 3. Her 14-second victory over Cat Zingano in February and subsequent fights against Holly Holm and Bethe Correia saw her shoot to fame across the world.

Completing the top five athletes are footballers Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi. Ronaldo won the Ballon d'Or, and Messi took home a historic treble with Barcelona.

Messi also reached the Copa America final with Argentina, while Real Madrid's Ronaldo picked up his fourth Golden Boot in October.
