DeOssie Placed on Injured Reserve

Michael Eisen reported the news DeOssie was placed on IR for the Giants' official website. The team subsequently announced it had signed Danny Aiken to the 53-man roster as DeOssie's replacement.
DeOssie is a team captain who had not missed a game in his eight years in the NFL, per Eisen. The 31-year-old veteran is a two-time Pro Bowler who has been in New York for both of the franchise's most recent Super Bowl triumphs.
After starting his career briefly with the Buffalo Bills, Aiken joined the New England Patriots in 2011 and remained with them through last season, collecting a Super Bowl XLIX ring in the process. He signed with the Carolina Panthers on Nov. 25 but was released only days later.
At least the Giants found a passable replacement in Aiken for such a key and steady spot on their special teams in DeOssie. They need to be sharp in all phases of the game as they seek to emerge as the best in the woeful NFC East during the last quarter of the 2015 campaign.
