Milos Raonic beat Rafael Nadal in the final set of Tuesday's second IPTL clash to see the Philippine Mavericks to a 25-24 victory over the Micromax Indian Aces in Manila.

Serena Williams had played a key role in setting up a blockbuster finish by taking the fourth set against Sam Stosur for the hosts.

Meanwhile, the first clash of the day was also a tight affair as the OBI UAE Royals survived a late surge from the OUE Singapore Slammers to prevail 26-23.

Williams' 6-3 victory over Stosur set up a tight final men's singles match between Nadal and Raonic with the match tied at 19-19.

Australian Stosur battled well to lose only 6-3 having been 5-1 down, but she never really had a chance of winning her set against the American world No. 1.

Mark Philippoussis had given the Mavericks an early lead, winning the opening set of the match 6-4 against Fabrice Santoro.

But consecutive victories in the men's and mixed doubles for the Aces had put the Indian outfit in control.

Serena's victory saw the teams tied going into the final set and Raonic claimed the early advantage in the match as he broke Nadal to love to go 2-1 up and sneak the Mavericks ahead.

A successfully converted power point from the Spaniard saw the two teams tied up again at 4-4 to set up a nail-biting finale, but Raonic responded in impressive fashion, producing an immaculate overhead and forcing Nadal into a couple of mistakes to break again.

The world No. 5 then forced a shootout at 5-5 in the final set, and despite some stunning play from Nadal, Raonic finally sealed a home win on the deciding point of the match.

Czech Republic tennis player Tomas Berdych of UAE Royals eyes the ball as he hits a return against Canadian Milos Raonic of the Philippine Mavericks in the men's singles of the International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) competition in Manila on December 6

Tomas Berdych was the hero for the UAE Royals as he sealed the victory, winning the men's singles 6-4 against Nick Kyrgios.

The Singapore Slammers men's doubles duo of Kyrgios and Marcelo Melo had hauled their team back into the match with a 6-2 win in the penultimate set, after the Royals had won the women's singles, the legend's singles and the mixed doubles.

However, Berdych was under pressure as he had only a 20-19 lead to protect going into the final set, but he excelled himself with a 6-4 victory.
