Manchester United Transfer News: Huge Neymar Bid Readied, Lucas Moura Rumours

Rory MarsdenDec 8, 2015

Manchester United are reportedly prepared to smash the world transfer record in order to sign Barcelona's Neymar and are readying a monster bid for the Brazilian superstar.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes (via Metro), Red Devils manager Louis van Gaal has been given £200 million to spend on new transfers and is preparing to bid £143.9 million for Neymar.

The report also indicated, however, that Neymar is eager to establish himself as a superstar in Spain and "isn’t keen on moving to England."

Per Fox Sport Brasil (h/t ESPN FC) United were linked with Neymar back in the summer, and they seemingly remain eager to add him to the ranks at Old Trafford.

He would be a blockbuster addition at United and could well be the type of star they need to compete with the biggest teams on the continent.

Van Gaal's squad are currently struggling in front of goal, which is no such issue for Neymar, 23, who has netted 14 La Liga goals so far in an impressive campaign, per WhoScored.com.

The former Santos star's release clause at the Camp Nou has previously been reported at €190 million (£137 million), per Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo (via Eurosport).

If the latest reports are correct, United are seemingly prepared to meet the fee, but the question still remains as to whether Neymar would want to move to United.

At Barcelona he is part of arguably Europe's best side and could be on for a second consecutive treble win in 2015-16.

Meanwhile, United are struggling to keep pace with the leaders in the Premier League, are playing boring football and could be on the verge of crashing out of the Champions League in the group stages, per Bleacher Report's Dean Jones:

The Red Devils can afford to offer Neymar huge financial incentives to move to Old Trafford, but recent reports have indicated that he is set to be offered a bumper new deal by the Blaugrana, per Jose Felix Diaz of Spanish newspaper Marca.

While United remain one of the biggest clubs in the world they are still struggling to rebuild in the post-Alex Ferguson era.

Neymar may be attracted by the prospect of helping to facilitate that progress, but he would surely be loath to move on from Barcelona where his prospects are limitless.

A more realistic—and far cheaper—attacking target for United is Paris Saint-Germain winger Lucas Moura, and Van Gaal is reportedly ready to make a move for the Brazilian in January, per Fichajes (via Luke Gardener in the Daily Star).

With Arsenal and Liverpool both reportedly interested in Moura as well, the Red Devils could have a fight on their hands, but they should have the financial muscle to prevail.

Per French outlet Buzzsport (via the Telegraph), PSG are prepared to listen to offers for the 23-year-old, who can play on either flank.

While he is a frustrating player at times, he could become a huge asset at United if he can develop greater consistency.

As can be seen below, Moura possesses dazzling skill and a direct play that could bring some much-needed verve to the United attack:

Per Foot-Sur 7 (h/t Gardener), Arsenal are preparing a £21.5 million bid for Moura.

If he is indeed available for between £20 million and £30 million, United would do well to go in for him in the new year as he would add a necessary spark to their uninspiring attack.
