Manchester United Transfer News: Ander Herrera Eyed by Barcelona, Latest Rumours

Gianni VerschuerenDec 2, 2015

Barcelona is reportedly eyeing out-of-favour midfielder Ander Herrera, who could be available for as little as £10.5 million following a falling-out with Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal.

That's according to Don Balon (h/t Metro's Mark Brus), who claim the Spaniard is unhappy at his lack of opportunities at Old Trafford, and Barcelona manager Luis Enrique would be interested in a January deal.

Herrera would be a cheaper option compared to other central midfielders, an important factor given the club's major financial struggles. Per Sport Witness, the current Champions League holders don't have the budget to make any significant investments in January.

That would make the 26-year-old an interesting alternative for the Blaugrana. Herrera has started just six Premier League matches this season and hasn't been a starter for the club since October, per WhoScored.com, and it doesn't look as if his role will be increased anytime soon.

Herrera joined United in 2014 after a sensational spell with Athletic Bilbao, and while he has flashed plenty of promise just about every time he's been on the pitch, Van Gaal simply doesn't seem to trust the Basque.

He remains adamant he's happy at Old Trafford, however, and not looking to leave anytime soon:

It's nice to see a player determined to fight for his place rather than complain about a lack of opportunities, but one has to assume Herrera will start getting agitated if his luck doesn't change in the coming months. And with Barcelona potentially lurking, the pressure to play the Spaniard will only increase.

United Looking at Musonda

Chelsea starlet Charly Musonda is reportedly growing increasingly worried he doesn't have a future at Stamford Bridge, and the Red Devils are among a host of clubs following the situation with a keen interest, per Matt Law of the Daily Telegraph.

The 19-year-old forward signed a new deal in March, but he refused to leave the Blues on loan during the summer, and he's been stuck with the club's Under-21 side as a result. Per Law, talks are expected to take place regarding his future in the coming weeks, although Musonda's father made it clear what he believes his son should do:

"

He must absolutely leave Chelsea and, since January, Monaco have been trying to sign him. Monaco are not alone but they truly want him.

Chelsea don’t want him to go back to Belgium. They want Charly to play in a good team in a big league. He must play for a first team. He progresses every day, but he must develop further.

"

The forward has been one of the top prospects in Chelsea's excellent academy for years and stood out during last year's post-season tour of Thailand and Australia, but it hasn't led to more opportunities under manager Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese caretaker has a poor reputation when it comes to talent development and still hasn't been able to integrate any of the top talents from the academy into the first squad, per Law. Meanwhile, young Belgian talents Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku were never given a real chance with the Blues, and both are now impressing for new clubs.

Musonda has already made a bigger impression in Chelsea's youth sector than De Bruyne or Lukaku ever did when they were his age, and he needs to play consistent minutes in order to continue his development. Old Trafford would be a perfect destination, given the club's lack of depth at the forward positions.

Paul Pogba Spotted in Manchester, Agent Rules out January Move

Former Manchester United star and reported transfer target Paul Pogba had dinner at a popular restaurant in Manchester on Tuesday, sparking immediate rumours the Frenchman could be on his way to either his former club or rivals Manchester City, per Manchester Evening News' James Robson.

The Juventus star was asked whether he was back to sign for either club but only responded by saying he “loves Manchester,” before getting into a car and driving off.

Speculation he could be on his way back to the Premier League in January immediately soared, but on Wednesday, Pogba's agent Mino Raiola ruled out a January move, per ESPN FC's David Amoyal:

The French international has bounced back after a sloppy start to the season and once again looks like one of the top young midfielders in all of football. He could finally leave Juventus next summer, when his value should be at an all-time high after the Euro 2016 tournament.

Per Robson, Raiola told Radio Monte Carlo that Juventus will not entertain a sale for any fee below £71 million, and if Pogba impresses for France at the upcoming European championship, his eventual fee might even be higher than that.
