According to La Repubblica (h/t Football Italia), the Red Devils like the manner in which the Italian sets his teams up and the bravery with which they play.
However, it’s suggested the Bianconeri are not keen on losing Allegri this season or next, with his contract in Turin set to expire in 2017. Van Gaal also has a deal which runs until 2017.
Allegri Reputation Hard-Earned
Allegri, formerly of Milan, Cagliari and Sassuolo, enriched his managerial reputation in 2014-15, doing a stellar job with Juventus.
Although eyebrows were raised when he took the job on from the much-loved Antonio Conte, especially after a mixed time of things with Milan previously, Allegri has pushed Juve on to new heights. They dominated Serie A, won the Coppa Italia and reached the Champions League final last season, where they lost to Barcelona.
This campaign, the Bianconeri are struggling a little, with Allegri finding it tough to fully integrate new faces after some key summer departures. But they seem to gradually be getting their act together.
If Van Gaal is to walk away from football in 2017, it’d make sense for the Red Devils to be considering potential replacements already. Allegri is a manager who deserves to be revered for the work he's done, but there's a question as to whether he would be the right fit for United.
