Madden Thanksgiving Players of the Game 2015: Jay Cutler, Tracy Porter Win Award

Joe PantornoNov 26, 2015

The Chicago Bears went into the depths of Lambeau Field on an emotional Thanksgiving night in which the Green Bay Packers retired Brett Favre's number and came out with a 17-13 victory. With the game airing on NBC, quarterback Jay Cutler and cornerback Tracy Porter were named the Madden Thanksgiving Players of the Game.

Cutler went 19-of-31 for 200 yards and a touchdown, picking up his first win ever at Lambeau Field, while Porter recorded one tackle, four pass deflections and an interception late in the fourth quarter.

Things weren't looking good for Cutler going into Thursday night, as ESPN Stats & Info pointed out:

But he spun together a solid performance and most importantly didn't give the football away. In his first 12 starts against the Packers, Cutler threw an interception in each game. That didn't happen on Thanksgiving.

Cutler's lone touchdown of the day came in the second quarter to tie the game at seven. After shrugging off pressure and shifting through the pocket, Cutler hit tight end Zach Miller from three yards out.

After leading the Bears to a 17-13 edge, the Packers had the entire fourth quarter to win the game. That's when Porter stepped up.

With the ball in Aaron Rodgers' hands, the Packers started a drive on their own 10-yard line with 4:09 to go in the game and drove the ball to midfield with ease. Out of the no-huddle, Rodgers dropped back and was looking Davante Adams, but Porter stepped up and picked off the pass.

Porter kept the blows coming for Green Bay even after the game when speaking with NBC's Michelle Tafoya, via the Associated Press' Jon Krawczynski:

Don't look now, but the Bears have won three of their last four games and are just two games back of the Packers for second place in the NFC North.

With a complete team game with contributions coming from both sides of the ball, whether it be Cutler or Porter, the Bears are coming into their own down the stretch of the 2015 season.
