WWE TLC 2015: Most Intriguing Storylines to Track on Road to PPV

Aaron BowerNov 25, 2015

The road to WWE Tables, Ladders and Chairs is filled with intrigue and mystery.

After a Survivor Series that failed to captivate the imagination, it shouldn't be too hard to improve on certain aspects of the build as TLC approaches.

But with just three weeks between shows, there is a real challenge for WWE to nail down some intriguing storylines at a time where the company desperately needs them.

Here's what stands out so far as the things to watch before TLC takes place on Dec. 13.

Dean Ambrose Bouncing Back

It was a disappointing night for Dean Ambrose fans at Survivor Series.

Not only did he lose out to Roman Reigns in the final of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship tournament, but he was forced to hurry out of the ring without any real storyline development to enable Sheamus to cash in his Money in the Bank contract.

That's left Ambrose out of the world title picture yet again, but he does at least seem to have an opportunity to get back on the winning trail at TLC.

His impending feud with Kevin Owens could end up being one of the best of the entire night at the forthcoming pay-per-view. In fact, with an uninspiring world title feud between Sheamus and Roman Reigns, Ambrose vs. Owens could be the feud of choice for many WWE fans over the next few months.

Ambrose has shown himself to be fully capable of bouncing back from setbacks in the past. He's done that with tougher and more unimaginative feuds than this one, too, so chances are watching Ambrose get back on track against a talent such as Owens will be well worth following.

The New Day Taking on All Comers

There's little doubt one of the hottest properties in WWE right now is The New Day.

The trio are showing themselves to be some of the company's best assets at a time when there's serious talent out due to injury, proving their worth on the mic and in the ring.

Although their action was limited at Survivor Series, they at least managed to get some heat by escaping to the back when Big E had been pinned and eliminated in their traditional Survivor Series match on Sunday.

They followed that up with another hugely entertaining promo on Raw the following night, which seemed to hint they'll be taking on more than one team at TLC.

Both The Lucha Dragons and The Usos emerged to confront The New Day, and as great as it's been to see The New Day entertain on the mic, this test of their abilities in the ring will be a great storyline to follow.

Will the trio be able to withstand challenges from numerous directions? It's certainly one to keep an eye on in the weeks to come.

Where's John Cena's Opening?

According to this report from F4WOnline.com (h/t WrestlingInc.com) back in October, John Cena is slated to return at TLC next month.

It's heavily acknowledged that plans can always change in WWE, especially given how Seth Rollins picked up an injury in between that initial report and now.

But if the plans are still locked in for Cena to make his return in his hometown of Boston, where does he fit into the booking of the show?

It seemed obvious we'd get Cena vs. Alberto Del Rio for the United States Championship, but with Jack Swagger now looking like the man who will face Del Rio, what's Cena's role going to be at TLC?

Perhaps WWE can hold off on its plan to bring Cena back at TLC, although the opportunity to give him a hometown pop might be too big to resist.

It's already looking like a fast-developing card at TLC, so it could be a real challenge to squeeze Cena into WWE's plans. As we know, though, the company always has a way of fitting Cena in.
