Jones Comments on Hardy

Monday, Nov. 23

"He is aware that everything he does—his personality, his style, his enthusiasm—it's all going to be interpreted negatively," said Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, per ESPN's Jean-Jacques Taylor. "If he's not aware of that, then he's hurting a lot of people. I think he really gets that. We certainly feel that way. He understands it, and he has agreed to really work on it."

Taylor reported Jones met with Hardy to discuss Hardy's recent behavior, stating, "The meeting, a week ago Thursday, focused on what Hardy can do personally to avoid creating negative issues for himself, according to the sources."

Support for Hardy 'Waning' in Dallas

Sunday, Nov. 22

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, patience is running thin with Hardy within the Cowboys organization after he was late on Nov. 12 and was also late for a meeting on Nov. 14. Per Rapoport, he has continued to receive help from coaches and teammates, however:

Hardy was reportedly embarrassed to face his teammates, according to Albert Breer of NFL.com, after he changed his Twitter bio to suggest that he was innocent of the domestic violence charges he was found guilty of last year.

The case was ultimately thrown out during the appeals process when his ex-girlfriend, Nicole Holder, didn't make herself available for appeal. Hardy also appeared to suggest in his bio change that he was being discriminated against, though he later changed the status.

Hardy's presence has been another test for a locker room that is already fraying, according to Ed Werder of ESPN:

While Hardy has made an impact on the field, notching four sacks and a forced fumble, he may be running out of favor with a Dallas team that sits at 3-7. Hardy's talent bought him his opportunity with the Cowboys, but he was on a short leash to start the season and has continued to provide the organization with reasons to question whether his signing was worth the risk.
