Ronda Rousey, Sasha Banks, the Undertaker and More from the Supernatural Mailbag

Alfred KonuwaNov 20, 2015

The WWE Divas division is at the heart of a controversy after Paige's shocking comments toward Charlotte in their show-closing confrontation. With the Divas Revolution beginning to pick up steam, where does Sasha Banks fit into this equation?

"

@ThisIsNasty where did my bae@SashaBanksWWE go?

"

Sasha Banks will be fine. In fact, the longer she's in the background of the clumsy front-end of this Divas revolution, the better. Once things start to pick up and WWE hits is stride booking this division, that would be a perfect entry point for Banks.

Whether WWE knows it or not, Banks is being portrayed as the bright spot of the Divas division. The "we want Sasha" chants are the result of restlessness and apathy toward the rest of the Divas. With Banks being clearly underutilized, fans are looking to her to provide a boost.

The Divas division is starting to gain momentum due to a mix of controversy and being ambitiously slotted in the main event of Raw. WWE is clearly dedicated to this cause, and as they become more ingrained in the midcard, I have no doubt that Banks will be used to her full potential.

@ThisIsNasty Ok...being that Ronda Rousey got pummeled by Holly Holm, does that lessen WWE's interest in her going forward?

"

It certainly should. Ironically enough, Rousey's undefeated streak matters more to WWE than UFC. In UFC, Rousey gets the opportunity for a rematch that will likely break viewing records. And while she'll remain a big draw if she were to appear in WWE, I'm not sure Rousey would want to make such an appearance fresh off of a loss.

Rousey refused to even show her face, per TMZ, as she touched down on the long flight back from Australia.

Many will argue that Rousey's celebrity got the best of her, and her many commitments created distractions headed into a bout where she was heavily favored. Rousey's loss was a wake-up call in many ways, and from here on out, it would behoove her to be more selective in making special appearances.

@DanPecoraro86@ryandilbert@ThisIsNasty No offense to Titus, but how does he get in? Same for Stardust.

"

The draw for the WWE Championship tournament showed me two things. On one hand, WWE's current full-time roster is very thin. The fact that Kalisto, Stardust, a debuting Tyler Breeze and Titus O'Neil were selected exposes the WWE roster as having very limited top-tier stars.

If WWE used a legitimate selection committee to put this bracket together, one can argue close to half of the participants would not make the cut.

On the other hand, it's encouraging to see WWE move forward with its transitional roster as opposed to hitting the panic button and calling Brock Lesnar, Sting or even John Cena.

WWE's continued use of major stars from yesteryear cannot continue forever. For years, I've been saying there will come a point where WWE will have to bite the bullet and stomach the poor ratings that come with new matchups between young stars for the betterment of its future.

Clearly, that time is now.

@ThisIsNasty would teaming with Kane and Taker help save the Ascension?

— Jordan Smith (@JSmith_FOX6) November 12, 2015

"

If Kane or The Undertaker even said the word "Ascension," neither would be considered a lock to make the WWE Hall of Fame.

Okay, maybe that's harsh, but there's no way WWE would pair a failed, supernatural tag team with perhaps the only supernatural tag team that has ever truly worked on a main event level.

Undertaker is the exception to the rule. With anybody else portraying that character, that gimmick would have bombed. It should have bombed, as it is a harebrained idea even for a wrestling promotion. But Mark Calaway's ability to elevate that gimmick is a testament to him, and not the appeal of the supernatural gimmick.

Teaming with the Ascension would expose both Undertaker and Kane as cheesy. Heck, they've been walking that line—and even stepping over it a bit—during the buildup of this current feud with the Wyatts. They definitely don't need any help in that department.
