Baltimore +130 over Toronto:
These two teams are playing out the string in the American League, each with a keen eye on the future. Baltimore will start Chris Tillman, while the Jays will counter with David Purcey. Each team has high hopes for these guys.

Tillman (2-3, 4.50) was one of the centerpieces of the O’s/Mariners trade a few years ago that netted the O’s Adam Jones and George Sherrill. Tillman was the highest regarded pitching prospect in the O’s system, and has done a decent job since his callup. His most recent effort, last Wednesday against Tampa Bay was his best, going 6 2/3 innings allowing only 1 run. He’s 1-2 with a 4.18 ERA in his last 5 starts.

It’s been a bit more of a struggle for David Purcey in Toronto. The big lefty is 0-2 with a 6.32 ERA in 6 starts in 2009. He has spent most of the year in the minors after winning a rotation spot out of Spring Training. Brett Cecil has passed him on the depth chart, and Purcey will have some work to do to make the rotation in 2010. He’s 0-2 with a 7.40 ERA in his last 5 attempts.
