Fantasy Football Week 11: Rankings and Advice for Thursday Night Football

Richard JanvrinNov 19, 2015

Kicking off Week 11, we have the Tennessee Titans traveling on the road to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Believe it or not, regardless of each team's record, they're still both in a position to come away as the AFC South champions.

The Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans are tied for first in the division at just 4-5.

Like last Thursday, this Week 11 edition of Thursday Night Football will also feature more "Color Rush" uniforms.

Hopefully, these jerseys won't cause issues for colorblind people all around the world.

According to Odds Shark, the Jaguars are a 2.5-point home favorite over the Titans.

However, I'm calling for an upset. I'm taking the Titans, 24-23.

Quarterbacks

3 of 9

Tennessee Titans: Marcus Mariota

As we saw in Week 9, Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota has a world of talent.

However, in Week 10 he had to face an excellent (and still undefeated) Carolina Panthers team. As a result, he finished 16-of-24 for 185 yards and zero touchdowns.

On the season, the Jacksonville Jaguars allow more than 280 passing yards per game, ranking eighth in the entire league.

Mariota's fantasy value could also be higher if he ran more, as he has just 15 attempts in seven games.

In prime time, Mariota has an excellent opportunity to post 20 or more fantasy points against a rather weak Jaguars defense.

Projections: 270 passing yards, 2 TDs, 0 INT; 35 rushing yards.

Jacksonville Jaguars: Blake Bortles

You have to admit, living in a world where Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles is the QB9 is pretty wild.

This season, he has thrown for at least one touchdown in every game, and in five of those he has thrown for 270 or more yards.

Week 10 presented an excellent opportunity for Bortles to rack up the fantasy points, but he had a rather pedestrian performance against a porous Baltimore Ravens defense. He threw for less than 200 yards but did account for two touchdowns.

In addition to his low yardage total, Bortles posted a mere 4.2 yards per attempt—his lowest this season.

The Titans have allowed more than 250 passing yards on the road this year, and this young Jaguars offense has been exciting to watch.

Projections: 300 passing yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT; 15 rushing yards.

Running Backs

4 of 9

Tennessee Titans Starter: Antonio Andrews

After the firing of Ken Whisenhunt, interim head coach Mike Mularkey came out and almost immediately tabbed running back Antonio Andrew as the workhorse back.

Over his last four games, Andrews has posted 10 or more carries in all of them.

However, these carries are not translating to touchdowns, as Andrews hasn't scored since Week 5.

That streak ends this week against a Jacksonville Jaguars team that has allowed eight rushing touchdowns on the year.

Projections: 65 rushing yards, 1 TD.

Tennessee Titans: Dexter McCluster

Though Dexter McCluster averages right around five carries per game, he also sees close to four targets per game.

However, you're only starting him if you're desperate.

Projections: 15 rushing yards; 3 receptions, 20 receiving yards.

Jacksonville Jaguars Starter: T.J. Yeldon

Leading up to this game, there was some doubt whether or not T.J. Yeldon would suit up.

According to Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times-Union, Yeldon has shed his walking boot and said he will be "fine" for Thursday night.

This season, the rookie running back is averaging close to 17 carries per game. Additionally, Yeldon has posted three or more receptions in five games this season.

The Titans allow just over 110 rushing yards per game, and Yeldon will be the main beneficiary of this ineffective run defense.

Projections: 80 rushing yards, 4 receptions, 40 receiving yards.

Wide Receivers

5 of 9

Tennessee Titans: Dorial Green-Beckham

Tennessee Titans rookie wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham has had an interesting season.

Early on, he was not getting a ton of snaps. Now, after an injury to fellow wide receiver Kendall Wright, DGB is seeing the field much more often.

As we saw in Week 9, he can be a productive player—he just needs opportunities.

Week 10 presented a problem against one of the best cornerbacks in the league—Josh Norman of the Carolina Panthers.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have given up nine receiving touchdowns this season to wide receivers, and DGB should have ample opportunity to make up for the goose egg he posted in Week 10.

I'll say he has a big week.

Projections: 6 receptions, 90 receiving yards, 1 TD.

Tennessee Titans: Harry Douglas

Since the injury of Wright, fellow Titans wide receiver Harry Douglas has been the biggest beneficiary snap-wise, though he played a fair amount before that.

The former Atlanta Falcons wide receiver is averaging right around four targets per game. Douglas is a low-end play with some upside.

Projections: 4 receptions, 45 receiving yards.

Jacksonville Jaguars: Allen Robinson

Jaguars wide receiver is a top-10 wide receiver in points-per-reception formats.

I guess that's what happens when you average nearly 10 targets per game and have two multi-touchdown performances.

No-brainer here.

Projections: 8 receptions, 100 receiving yards, 1 TD.

Jacksonville Jaguars: Allen Hurns

Allen Hurns has been a pleasant surprise this season.

The idea of Robinson and quarterback Blake Bortles being top-10 in their respective positions is impressive. When you add in the fact that Hurns is a top-15 wide receiver, all of Jacksonville should be partying.

Hurns has a touchdown in seven straight games.

Let's make it eight.

Projections: 5 receptions, 80 receiving yards, 1 TD.

Tight Ends

6 of 9

Tennessee Titans Starter: Delanie Walker

Tennessee Titans tight end Delanie Walker has proved himself to be a solid TE1. This season, he is the TE8.

However, there was an element of luck in Week 9 when Walker posted two touchdowns—one of which came off a deflection.

Besides Week 9, Walker has just one other touchdown this season, giving him a total of three.

He is obviously a big part of this offense, seeing right around seven targets per game.

Projections: 6 receptions, 70 receiving yards, 1 TD.

Jacksonville Jaguars Starter: Julius Thomas

Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Julius Thomas has had a rough season.

The high-profile free agent has missed a majority of the season due to injury. However, since his return, Thomas has had just one game of 10-plus targets, with the rest being six or fewer.

Thomas has just one touchdown on the season, which came in the lone double-digit-target game this season. In every other game this season, he has not posted more than 25 receiving yards in a game.

Thomas is a hair-pulling play in Week 11.

Projections: 3 receptions, 40 receiving yards.

Defense/Special Teams

7 of 9

Tennessee Titans Defense/Special Teams

Ironically enough, the Tennessee Titans and the Jacksonville Jaguars defense and special teams are tied in term of fantasy points.

However, the Titans rank fifth in the league in terms of sacks. They should be able to get to the quarterback and pick off a pass.

Projections: 23 points allowed, 1 INT, 4 sacks.

Jacksonville Jaguars Defense/Special Teams

The Jaguars rank in the middle of the pack in terms of sacks and in the bottom portion in terms of interceptions.

They are not a valid fantasy play this week.

Projections: 24 points allowed, 2 sacks.

Best Sleeper Add

8 of 9

Dorial Green-Beckham, WR, Tennessee Titans (Owned in 17.9 Percent of ESPN Leagues)

With fellow wide receiver Kendall Wright out, Tennessee Titans rookie wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham is in a great position to post a touchdown this week.

His last two games have been polar opposites of each other, but I'll guess he posts similar numbers to his Week 9 output and, as mentioned above, will find the end zone.

Start or Sit?

9 of 9

Antonio Andrews, RB, Tennessee Titans

Tennessee Titans running back Antonio Andrew has left a lot to be desired these last few weeks.

However, the carries are there.

As mentioned before, he will be taking on a Jacksonville Jaguars team that is giving up nearly one rushing touchdown per game.

This should be a close game, resulting in positive game script for Andrews.

Verdict: Start
