Dean Ambrose Winning World Title at WWE Survivor Series Is Best for Business
Crowning Dean Ambrose world champion at Survivor Series 2015 is just the stick of dynamite WWE needs to wake up its product.
Having The Lunatic Fringe as the WWE world heavyweight champion would avoid a predictable finish that promises a Royal Rumble-esque backlash. His rabid-dog energy will make his reign must-watch. Raw and SmackDown will then have one of its best in-ring performers as the centerpiece, a madcap antihero leading the company into a new era.
And apparently, WWE is considering making Ambrose the next titleholder.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
According to PWInsider (h/t Wrestling Inc), there has been a recent internal push to have Ambrose as champion at Survivor Series. It's not a lock that he'll get the needed support to win on Sunday, but some within WWE are making the case for Ambrose.
That's the right instinct.
Roman Reigns will make an excellent champion, but his current path to the title is hampered by the fact that everyone sees it coming. He's been the clear focus of this tournament to decide who follows Seth Rollins as champ. He's been the clear favorite.
To have him simply overcome the odds and win out assures WWE the same kind of negative reaction Reigns received after his Royal Rumble win. Fans rejected the babyface with jeers that outdid what Batista garnered the year before.
There is no surprise element if Reigns wins straight up. The No. 1 seed will have triumphed. The favored fighter will have done just as predicted.
Ambrose is not exactly an out-of-the-blue underdog, but his winning is a more entertaining option.

The second banana would have his day, and the company would be taking a chance on the member of The Shield least like the prototypical WWE star. It would be a deviation from the status quo, something that's a smart idea with Raw's ratings floundering.
That's especially true if Reigns turns heel, joins The Authority and still falls. Ambrose would then be the anti-authority hero forced to fight like hell in order to keep his title. He would be the hunted, the man who made his way through a trap set by the tyrants in control.
Or else, Ambrose can be the one who turns, despite Reigns' being the one who Triple H first tried to woo.
Either way, WWE will have the next few months covered in terms of the marquee feud. As pro wrestling writer Kevin Berge pointed out, an Ambrose-Reigns rivalry would be a smart bridge to WrestleMania:
But why Ambrose as the champ in the scenario?
Ambrose is the choice that rocks the boat. Going with Reigns is the saw-it-coming route.
In addition to those pulling for him behind the scenes, former ECW star Tommy Dreamer believes in him. On the Busted Open radio show (h/t Wrestle Zone), Dreamer said, "I think Dean Ambrose is the guy." He talked of his being both a star and an underdog.
What he didn't mention is just how captivating Ambrose's instability will be on center stage. The Lunatic Fringe has shown himself to be electrically entertaining. When he has ranted backstage about being a master of the grappling arts or has promised to replace Michael Cole with a fish tank, he's reminded us how fun he is to watch.
He's bursting with frenetic energy, a caffeinated tiger banging on the bars of his cage.
Let him out, and programming that has often felt like it's going through the motions will be much more unsettled and unconventional. Taking a flyer on Ambrose allows fans to see the kind of chaos that might have occurred had WWE pinned Brian Pillman to be its top guy or had Roddy Piper take over for Hulk Hogan.
And fans have shown that they would welcome a crazy king on WWE's throne. When Ambrose stole the world title from Rollins this summer, there was a huge buzz surrounding him, even though his reign was a phantom one.
That's the kind of energy WWE needs right now. It doesn't want a repeat of the Rumble, with fans rolling their eyes at a company-made star getting to the top in predictable fashion.
WWE needs to listen to those writers in Ambrose's corner. Anoint him, and a wealth of mesmerizing lunacy awaits.
