Chris Matthews Waived by Seahawks: Latest Details, Comments, Reaction
The Seattle Seahawks announced that they waived wide receiver Chris Matthews on Tuesday after he notched only four catches on eight targets for 54 yards in nine games this season.
Mike Garafolo of FoxSports.com initially reported the news, and ESPNSeattle.com's Brady Henderson provided confirmation. In Super Bowl XLIX, Matthews burst onto the scene with four receptions for 109 yards and a touchdown in the Seahawks' 28-24 loss to the New England Patriots.

"I know that nothing is easy, and I don't expect it to happen now but GOD has always had my back and he won't stop now. #Blessed

The addition of star tight end Jimmy Graham and the emergence of rookie wideout Tyler Lockett hindered Matthews' ability to make an impact thereafter.
Despite his evident talent and big catch radius thanks to a 6'5" frame, the struggling Seahawks haven't been able to make use of the 26-year-old after his huge game on the NFL's biggest stage. Whether it's due to Matthews' lack of development or Seattle's game-planning is unclear.
Due to the potential he flashed in the most recent Super Bowl, it stands to reason Matthews will have an opportunity to sign elsewhere. He's the ultimate low-risk, high-reward acquisition.
This year's Seattle team has been rather disappointing, with a 4-5 record and a 27th-ranked passing offense. After three straight trips to the postseason and a championship to show for that run, the Seahawks are in danger of missing the playoffs and are still in search of an identity.
Matthews' almost nonexistent role this season may be overlooked by potential suitors considering Seattle's seemingly down 2015 campaign.
