Daily Fantasy Football November 16: DFS Stock Up, Stock Down
Backup running backs ruled Week 10 of daily fantasy football on DraftKings, while other DFS stocks rose and fell after an exciting day of NFL action.
Jeremy Langford and Charcandrick West both demolished their respective opponents, but one player has an easier path to duplicate the outstanding day.
Elsewhere, one of the more underrated receivers continued his consistent performance, while another wideout hit a lull before entering an unfavorable matchup next week.
Factors used when compiling the list include a given player's recent performance, upcoming games, trends and, if necessary, injuries. Use this information as an early-week research tool.
Stock Up: Joe Flacco, Baltimore Ravens
1 of 6
The Baltimore Ravens lost another close game, and being an efficient DFS option is certainly no consolation for Joe Flacco.
Nevertheless, an even 3.0 percent of Millionaire Maker participants owned Flacco, who threw for 316 yards and three touchdowns. He tallied 26.34 points on DraftKings and cost just $5,500.
Baltimore hosts the St. Louis Rams next week, and Flacco has tallied at least 24 DFS points in each home game. Additionally, the Rams just surrendered 258 yards and three scores to Jay Cutler.
Although the Ravens may fall short again, Flacco is a strong fantasy-producer at M&T Bank Stadium—even in a loss.
Stock Down: Aaron Rodgers, QB, Green Bay Packers
2 of 6
Behind an offensive line that couldn't deal with pressure, James Jones fading into irrelevance and a shaky connection with Randall Cobb, Aaron Rodgers had a rough outing.
The Green Bay Packers dropped their third consecutive game and now must travel to face the Minnesota Vikings, who had the fourth-best fantasy pass defense entering Sunday, per FF Toolbox.
Rodgers will likely put up approximately 20 points, but a 16.7 percent ownership rate shouldn't be repeated against the NFC North rival.
His price will likely remain around $7,500, but selecting a quarterback like Flacco, Derek Carr or Ryan Fitzpatrick is both a cap-saver and should result in a similar DFS output.
Stock Up: Charcandrick West, Kansas City Chiefs
3 of 6
Langford had a 40.2-point showing and will face the Denver Broncos in Week 11, but West's 31.1-point outburst was an anomaly against that ordinarily stout defense.
West has a better outlook for next Sunday because his team will challenge the San Diego Chargers. Seven backs have topped 100 total yards opposite San Diego.
Just 1.9 percent of DFS players owned West, who logged at least 24 total touches for the third straight contest.
West's price will rise from $4,800, but the volume he handles and Kansas City's upcoming opponent makes for an appealing combination.
Stock Down: Darren McFadden, Dallas Cowboys
4 of 6
Although Darren McFadden was among the more popular running back choices in Week 10, it's realistic to assume he won't have a 20.8 percent ownership again.
McFadden managed just 32 yards on 17 carries, adding three receptions for 26 yards. His 8.8 DFS points probably frustrated slightly more than one-fifth of attempted Millionaire Makers.
Now, he might get a boost because Tony Romo should be back under center for Dallas. The offense will attempt to establish the run to create play-action opportunities.
However, McFadden's touchdown upside is already limited, and the Cowboys typically lean toward giving Romo chances at the goal line. McFadden's DFS ceiling is low.
Stock Up: Eric Decker, New York Jets
5 of 6
Eric Decker has played in eight games this season and failed to catch a touchdown just once. Yet the New York Jets wideout still tallied six catches for 94 yards during that scoreless tilt.
He snared six passes for the fourth straight game, and that streak should continue next Sunday against the Houston Texans.
As long as Brandon Marshall is available, Decker is the second option for the Jets. Receivers, who like Decker, can work from the slot—Leonard Hankerson, Andre Johnson, Bryan Walters and Jarvis Landry, for example—have destroyed the Texans secondary.
Decker's price has stuck at $5,300 since Week 7, but he's notched at least 15.3 DFS points each outing. There aren't many safe bets, but Decker is one.
Stock Down: Alshon Jeffery, Chicago Bears
6 of 6
It's unwise to completely eliminate Alshon Jeffery from Week 11 consideration, but be mindful of some potentially significant issues.
The Chicago Bears receiver is fighting a groin injury, which likely affected him on Sunday against the Rams. Jeffery grabbed three passes for 23 yards on four targets.
That's not an encouraging sign for a battle with two top-tier corners in Chris Harris and Aqib Talib. Denver's standout corners will eliminate a hobbled wideout, especially one who can't change directions quickly.
A healthy Jeffery is a dangerously productive target. An injured Jeffery isn't much of a threat.
