WWE's Top Stories, Rumors and Buzz for Week of November 14

The Doctor Chris MuellerNov 14, 2015

With WWE operating year-round, it seems like there are a few big news stories every week, and the last seven days were no exception.

As we build toward Survivor Series, most of the focus will be on filling up the rest of the card. The fact that we haven't heard of a single traditional elimination match yet means there is still a lot of work to do.

Let's take a look at some of the bigger news stories from the past week and how they might affect WWE going forward.

The Rock Expecting First Child

Dwayne Johnson has done a lot in his life. He was a college football standout, one of the most popular WWE Superstars of all time and has become one of the most successful movie stars in Hollywood, but his most recent announcement is likely the one thing he is most proud of.

Rocky announced on his Instagram that he and his girlfriend are expecting their first child together, and it's going to be a girl.

It's easy to say that The Rock would just hire a nanny and other people to help him, but The Great One has never half-assed anything in his life. It wouldn't be surprising if he took a short break from making movies to stay home with his baby.

Hopefully he is comfortable getting two hours' sleep, having every piece of clothing he owns stained and having to pay attention to the welfare of another human being 24 hours a day.

Raising a child is one of the best things a person can do, but it is also one of the hardest. Congrats to The Rock on becoming a father.

Billy Gunn Fired

The most shocking bit of news from the past week was the announcement by Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com that Billy Gunn has been fired for using performance-enhancing drugs.

The strange thing is that Gunn failed the test for a powerlifting competition and not the regular WWE Wellness Policy. However, WWE takes this kind of thing seriously these days, so it had to take action.

We've all heard of people being suspended for testing positive many times over the past several years, but Gunn was in a position of authority at the Performance Center.

It's sad that the trainees won't have Gunn's decades of experience to learn from anymore, but there is always the chance he may be rehired down the road.

The Undertaker Tombstones a Turkey

In a bit of lighter news, The Undertaker made a rare talk-show appearance this week to promote the 25th anniversary of his debut at Survivor Series.

Jimmy Fallon was doing his weekly suggestion-box skit when The Deadman made his appearance. He stayed in character as he made his way onto the stage and dropped some poor guy in a turkey suit with a Tombstone Piledriver.

Taker rarely appears outside of WWE anymore, and when he does, it's usually because he is watching a UFC fight or doing something for charity, so this comedic moment was a rare treat for fans.

It was smart to have The Undertaker appear on The Tonight Show because he is one of the few people who has been around long enough to possibly entice lapsed fans into returning to the product.

Randy Orton Getting Married

It appears as if another WWE Superstar is preparing to tie the knot. Randy Orton is taking time off from WWE, and it looks like the main reason may be to marry his girlfriend and go on their honeymoon.

Orton is a relatively private person, even in a world where it is a requirement that he uses social media to stay ahead of the curve, but anyone who watches Unfiltered with Renee Young on the WWE Network is familiar with Orton's girlfriend, Kim.

We might not have known he was married until after the fact had it not been for a humorous Twitter exchange between Orton, his future wife and his mother.

With several big names taking time off due to injury or to fulfill other engagements, fans are clamoring to see Orton back in the ring, but we can wait a little longer if it means he will return a happier and more productive Superstar. Congrats to Orton on finding someone he loves and putting a ring on it.

The Undertaker and Kane's Survivor Series Match Revealed

As we saw during Thursday's episode of SmackDown, Bray Wyatt finally threw down a challenge for The Undertaker and Kane for Survivor Series.

Instead of having the entire Wyatt Family compete against The Brothers of Destruction and two other people in a traditional elimination match, we found it would be a simple tag team contest.

Taker didn't appear on camera for the segment, but his voice echoed throughout the arena at the end of the show as he accepted the challenge to face any two members of The Wyatt Family.

This is an important match because Wyatt actually has a chance of winning. Nobody expected him to defeat The Deadman at WrestleMania 31, but Survivor Series is a different story.

A victory over two legends like Kane and The Undertaker could help solidify Wyatt as one of the top heels in the company. His frequent losses have done nothing to help his credibility as a villain, but that could all change after next weekend.
