WWE Survivor Series 2015: Round 2 Predictions for World Heavyweight Tournament

Aaron BowerNov 13, 2015

After the opening round of matches on Raw this past week, the go-home edition of Raw heading toward Survivor Series will feature four more bouts to determine the semifinalists for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Tournament.

Some men are more likely to progress than others, which makes the task of predicting some of the matches this week on Raw difficult to call.

Who progresses to Survivor Series, and who falls just short of making it to the pay-per-view with a chance of becoming champion? Let's predict how the next round of the tournament will go.

Alberto Del Rio vs. Kalisto

Given how the likes of Bray Wyatt and The New Day weren't even in the 16-man bracket for this tournament, guys like Kalisto were always likely to make up the numbers, so to speak.

But he provided the biggest shock of the first round on Raw this past week, beating Ryback in what was a major twist for that half of the tournament bracket.

Alberto Del Rio's simple progression left many to believe he would face Ryback in the final eight, but now, his path to Survivor Series and the semifinals looks even more routine.

It would be a major surprise if WWE chose Kalisto to move on toward the pay-per-view instead of Del Rio, especially given the circumstances with which he's just returned to the company. He's riding some decent momentum at the moment, and that should lead to him being the man who advances.

Will he win the title? That's doubtful, but he has enough to get past one-half of The Lucha Dragons on Raw and move on to Survivor Series.

Winner: Del Rio

Kevin Owens vs. Neville

Just as Kalisto's victory against Ryback came as a surprise, Neville's progression into the last eight was also somewhat of a shock.

He and King Barrett both stand no chance of winning the tournament, but Neville getting this far is at least an improvement of sorts on his recent booking.

The chances of his getting to Survivor Series and the final four are slim at best, though.

Kevin Owens looks like a surefire semifinal candidate. Regardless of the fact he holds a title of his own, Owens has to go deep into this tournament to set him up for a big run at the main event scene over the next few months.

Expect him to win fairly comfortably, although both these NXT graduates could produce an impressive match in the process.

Winner: Owens

Dolph Ziggler vs. Dean Ambrose

Regardless of who progresses, this has all the credentials to be the match of the round.

Many fans would have loved to see this match before now, as Ziggler and Ambrose are two of the standout wrestlers on the roster.

That they are both babyfaces means little when the bell rings, as it will be a fantastic battle to see who gets to the final four.

But which man will prevail?

Although plenty would love to see Ziggler get close to another run with the world title, it will be Ambrose who goes through on this occasion.

Perhaps Tyler Breeze will cost Ziggler the victory, setting up a match between the two at Survivor Series. That would at least prevent Ziggler from being beaten cleanly and taking another big hit after that awful rivalry with Rusev.

But it's Ambrose who is destined for a place at Survivor Series, and he looks like a good bet to go all the way to the final.

But this final four will be difficult to split when it matters.

Winner: Ambrose

Roman Reigns vs. Cesaro

The most pleasant surprise of the entire first round was Cesaro getting past Sheamus and making it to the last eight of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Tournament.

Cesaro is still the one that WWE fans would love to see get a major push, and although that may happen in the future, it won't happen over the next few weeks.

There's no way he's getting past Roman Reigns, who is destined to reach the final of this tournament at least.

Whether he wins the tournament or not is probably down to whether there's a swerve in the final, but Reigns will have little trouble going over Cesaro and making it to the final four.

It would be a major surprise if Reigns didn't get that far. Cesaro fans would love to see him get all the way to Survivor Series, but the best they can hope for is another strong performance from The Swiss Superman.

Winner: Reigns
