ATP World Tour Finals 2015: TV Info, Full Draw and Schedule
Groups for the 2015 ATP World Tour Finals were revealed Thursday, and they certainly didn't disappoint.
As is the case each year, the world's top eight men's singles players were divvied up into two groups that will compete in round-robin-style play before the top two seeds from each group proceed to semifinal play.
According to the ATP's official website, group Stan Smith will be comprised of No. 1 Novak Djokovic, No. 3 Roger Federer, No. 6 Tomas Berdych and No. 8 Kei Nishikori, while Group Ilie Nastase boasts No. 2 Andy Murray, No. 4 Stan Wawrinka, No. 5 Rafael Nadal and No. 7 David Ferrer.
"These groups were going to be tough regardless of who was going to be in the group," Federer said, per the ATP's website. "But I'm excited to be back and can't wait for it to start."
Play is scheduled to begin Nov. 15 and run through Nov. 22, with action available to viewers in the United States through WatchESPN.com. The finals are slated to shift to ESPN2. An up-to-date schedule can be viewed here, courtesy of the ATP.
The World Tour Finals will mark the end of the 2015 season, which has been dominated by Djokovic. Not only is Djokovic riding a 22-match winning streak into the finals, but he's been the hottest player on tour since the start of the campaign.
The 28-year-old has won seven singles titles and posted a record of 63-5 this year, including championships at the U.S. Open, Wimbledon and Australian Open. He also qualified for the French Open final but had his hopes dashed by Wawrinka.
Since 2009, Djokovic and Federer are the only players to capture titles at the ATP World Tour Finals. Additionally, Djokovic is looking to capture his fourth straight championship in London.
However, he'll need to get past Federer—who pushed him to four sets in the U.S. Open final—and the No. 2 ranked Murray. Although Murray is coming off a straight-set loss to Djokovic at the ATP BNP Paribas Masters and ATP Shanghai Rolex Masters finals, he's been stellar this season. Overall, the Scottish star has gone 61-10 with four singles titles.
And while wins over Djokovic have been elusive, Murray can make a statement and close the season out in style.
