Wyatt Family Must Win V Undertaker and Kane to Regain Credibility with WWE Fans

Donald WoodNov 13, 2015

After Thursday’s episode of WWE SmackDown, it is clear Survivor Series will feature a traditional tag team match between two representatives from The Wyatt Family and the duo of Kane and Undertaker.

For the sake of The Wyatt Family, they need to walk away from the pay-per-view victorious.

One of the biggest issues wrestling fans have right now with Bray Wyatt and his family is the words they say ring hollow because of the fact they lose constantly. Heels can afford to take losses, as fans love to see them get their comeuppance, but it hurts their credibility when all they do is get beaten in the biggest moments.

Wyatt has one of the most interesting characters in wrestling today, and he is great on the mic every time he speaks, but fans will begin to tune out if they believe he won’t make good on his promises.

WWE needs to book Wyatt strong for once.

The feud against the Brothers of Destruction is reminiscent of Wyatt’s feud against Undertaker heading into WrestleMania 31. The Wyatt Family is doing all the heavy lifting in terms of building the storyline while Undertaker and Kane are used sporadically to get a big pop. The problem is that if The Wyatt Family loses again, all of the things said during the build to this bout will be moot, and that continues to damage their credibility.

Now Wyatt’s family has grown and outnumbers the Brothers of Destruction, losing would be even more damaging to his reputation than a singles loss. The company is in desperate need for top heels following Seth Rollins' injury, and a victory would put Wyatt and his family in the position to be considered the top heels in the business.

Beating legends such as Undertaker and Kane would be the first step toward re-establishing the group as a dangerous entity that could run roughshod over WWE. The booking should be all about re-establishing the credibility of The Wyatt Family at this crucial juncture, and simply letting Wyatt pick up a clean pinfall on Kane would be the best possible option.

WWE will not allow Undertaker to get pinned as the company looks to build momentum heading into WrestleMania season, but Kane has been the fall guy for years. It wouldn’t hurt Undertaker to lose a tag team match, and taking the pin would have no long-term impact on Kane’s legacy.

Beating the Brothers of Destruction would help solidify the Wyatt Family as bona fide stars, though.

The WWE Universe wants to like Bray Wyatt and his family, but the booking makes it hard for many fans to get behind them. Beating Kane and Undertaker in a tag team match at Survivor Series would instantly give the heel stable credibility.

It should be Bray and Braun Strowman who take on the Brothers of Destruction at the PPV, and the Wyatt Family deserves to win.
