Rookie Surprise For Bears, WR Johnny Knox
Through two weeks of football, the Bears have found a rookie surprise at wide receiver, Johnny Knox(ville).
The 6'0'', 185 lb. wide receiver out of Abilene Christian is providing a spark in the passing game for the Chicago Bears and Jay Cutler. After two games, Knox has 8 receptions for 152 yards and 1 touchdown. Johnny Knox has Devin Hester speed (he ran a 4.34 40 at the combine), all except he is a wide receiver, not a return specialist.
If he keeps up the pace he is on, he will have 64 receptions and 1216 yards with 8 touchdowns, all would be better than any receiver last year or Matt Forte who led the team with 63 receptions. Knox so far has not only shown speed, but also the ability to catch the ball very well. He seems to run crisp routes, and I can see him and Cutler hooking up regularly on game day. He showed in the first game against the Green Bay Packers that he was a deep threat, but against the Pittsburgh Steelers, he showed his route running along with his catching ability and speed.
For everybody saying that Greg Olsen is Cutlers favorite target, Knox is the guy who is getting the job done right now, and the Bears are 1-1. I hope his connection with Cutler is a glimpse of something special.
If you are in a fantasy team, pick him up for next weekends game against a suspect Seahawks defense. Against two really good pass defenses, he has 8 and 13 points according to ESPN. He is probably at best a 3rd WR, but if you're hurting at wide receiver, he is a nice pick up for this weekend.
Before the draft Johnny Knox was worried if he was even going to get drafted, and now that he is a Bear, he is taking advantage of the opportunity to play, and with that, I leave you with this:
