NFL Week 10 Picks: Predicting the Winner of All 14 Matchups

Steven CookNov 10, 2015

Even though Week 9 is freshly in the books, it's never too early to look ahead to the next week of NFL action in Week 10—especially since only two days separate us from Thursday Night Football.

It's been an historic first half of the season, with three 8-0 teams marking the most to ever reach the halfway point with an unbeaten record. Considering what's ahead in the immediate future for the New England Patriots, Carolina Panthers and Cincinnati Bengals, more wins could be in store before any of them bite the dust.

Of course, they're only three of the 28 teams in action throughout this week and weekend, so let's take an early look at every matchup and who should win each.

Dallas Cowboys at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

If I told you at the beginning of the season that there would be five combined wins between the two teams in this Week 10 matchup, you'd likely be asking questions about the winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers and a five-win Dallas Cowboys squad.

Instead, it's Tampa Bay that comes in with three of those victories—and the Cowboys are the ones sputtering with a 2-6 record heading into what's expected to be their final game without injured quarterback Tony Romo.

Romo is sidelined on injured reserve until Week 11, upon which he plans on returning from a broken clavicle, as reported by Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News. But at 0-6 since his injury, it's safe to say Dallas is missing him greatly as Bleacher Report NFL showed:

To the Cowboys' credit, they have faced a tough schedule over the last several games—losing to Atlanta, New Orleans, New England, the New York Giants, Seattle and Philadelphia. Four of those losses have come by one possession or less, even without their star signal-caller.

Simply put, Dallas is beyond desperate for wins to give Romo even the slightest chance at leading them back into the NFC East race. Meanwhile, rookie quarterback Jameis Winston has shown great strides in recent weeks—but still has a shortage of weapons and a susceptible defense to make up for.

Look for the more desperate team to win out in this one as the Cowboys get a much-needed victory nearly two months in the making.

New England Patriots at New York Giants

Come hell or high water, the New England Patriots just keep winning.

The Patriots won again last week against Washington, beating their opponent by multiple scores for the fourth time this season. That pushed them to a perfect 8-0 on the year, heading into a Week 10 bout with the NFC East-leading New York Giants.

Of course, the Giants are no strangers to taking down the mighty Patriots even when they appear most unbeatable. Two Super Bowls come to mind, specifically. But this isn't the same Patriots team, nor is it the same Giants team, that made those upsets happen.

While quarterback Tom Brady is putting together another MVP-worthy season, it's the defense that has led the way as Doug Kyed of NESN noted:

The Giants defense is better than the seven touchdowns allowed two weeks ago by Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints would indicate. But the fact of the matter is, they allowed seven passing touchdowns in one game.

Brady is undoubtedly salivating at that thought, and even if he doesn't reach seven scores through the air, he'll be able to do more than enough to give his Patriots another comfortable win while his defense stymies Eli Manning
