Johnston Comments on Dupuis' Timeline for Return
Monday, Nov. 9
“I think through the year they’re always going to be cautious whenever anything arises,” head coach Mike Johnston said, via Jenn Menendez of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. “The doctors just felt they needed to be precautionary as far as symptoms that he had. That’s the way it’s going to be with his situation. He’s cleared to practice right now. We expect he’ll be cleared to play.”
Dupuis' Symptoms "May or May Not" Be Related to Blood Clots
Friday, Nov. 6
"We’ve said all along that Pascal’s health is the highest priority," general manager Jim Rutherford said in a statement, per the team's official website. "We will take every precaution necessary to ensure he is in good health."
Dupuis Has History of Blood Clots
Last season, the 36-year-old was diagnosed with a blood clot in his leg that migrated to his lung. As a result, he appeared in just 16 games before hitting the shelf and recuperating thanks to the help of blood thinners.
However, Pittsburgh's star returned for the start of the 2015 season. Through six games, he's tallied a goal in just over 16 minutes of time on ice per night.
