WWE Survivor Series 2015: Top X-Factors to Watch in Wake of Seth Rollins Injury

Donald WoodNov 6, 2015

The 2015 edition of WWE’s Survivor Series pay-per-view is being heralded as the 25th anniversary of The Undertaker and the 29th anniversary of the PPV itself.

The show was already going to be a marquee event, but the injury to WWE World Heavyweight champion Seth Rollins has thrown a major wrench in the works. Now, the company will be holding a tournament to determine a new title holder.

With Survivor Series approaching fast and Rollins’ injury changing plans, here are the biggest X-factors to watch at the PPV.

World Title Tournament

The biggest X-factor for the November PPV is the tournament to crown a new world champion and all the possibilities that can come from the event.

Not only will the tournament crown a new champion that will lead the company toward the start of the road to WrestleMania, but the individual matchups in the first and second rounds will spawn major feuds moving forward.

There is little doubt that Tyler Breeze vs. Dolph Ziggler and Dean Ambrose vs. Kevin Owens were likely going to be singles matches at the PPV, but now those battles can become tournament bouts instead.

Just like the G1 Climax tournament in New Japan Pro Wrestling, the purpose of the tournament is to both crown a new No. 1 contender—in WWE’s case they will crown a champion—and build feuds heading into the most important time of the year for the company.

While an injury to the world champion is never a good thing, it will force WWE to get creative with the booking heading into Survivor Series.

Team Undertaker

As seen on SmackDown, The Wyatt Family looks incredible heading into Survivor Series, but there are plenty of questions about Team Undertaker. Will Undertaker and Kane be in a four-on-two handicap match, or will the Brothers of Destruction find partners?

From Daniel Bryan to Sting, there have been several names tossed around as possible teammates.

Regardless of who steps into the ring alongside Undertaker and Kane—there is still a chance it’s just the Brothers of Destruction—this was going to be the biggest draw on the show and the most anticipated match, but the world title tournament changes everything.

Instead of just taking a backseat to the tournament, though, the duo of Undertaker and Kane and the entire Wyatt Family will be looking to steal the show and prove they truly are the focus of the PPV.

It will be hard to top the crowning of a new champion, but having an intriguing storyline featuring legends of the business and some of the hottest stars right now will ensure no wrestling fan forgets the Survivor Series match these men produce.
