NXT: Full Preview, Match Card and More for October 21

The Doctor Chris MuellerOct 21, 2015

Welcome to Bleacher Report's preview for this week's episode of WWE NXT, where we take a spoiler-free look at what's in store for the developmental brand's upcoming episode.

With all the attention devoted to Sunday's Hell in a Cell, it's easy to forget that NXT still has a show airing Wednesday night.

The next TakeOver special is almost two months away, so NXT has plenty of time to build up intriguing storylines and develop some of the new characters who have popped up recently.

Let's take a look at what's in store for this week's episode of NXT.

The Tag Teams

After being eliminated early in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady are back in action this week against The Mechanics.

Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder made it to the semifinals of the tournament but ended up being eliminated by Finn Balor and Samoa Joe, the two men who won the whole shebang.

Both of these teams are looking for a way to get back on track, which puts them in the same boat in terms of needing this win.

Amore and Big Cass make up one of the most popular acts in NXT, and when someone becomes as popular as they have, it's only a matter of time before they end up on the main roster.

It's not like the winner will be in line for a title shot right away, but every win counts, especially in NXT where people tend to appear every few weeks instead of weekly like they do on the main roster.

The Women

Asuka made a great impression in her debut match against Dana Brooke at TakeOver: Respect, and she will look to continue her winning ways when she goes up against Billie Kay.

The Japanese Diva is one of the most physically dominating women to come along in quite some time, and it has nothing to do with her size.

Asuka is more dangerous because she utilizes stiff strikes, a variety of suplexes and submission holds that would make anyone want to tap out.

Kay is also a newcomer in NXT with several years of experience inside the squared circle, but the way she has been booked indicates that WWE feels she needs more time before she gets a push.

The winner of this match seems obvious, but the most important thing is how well both women perform. If this match is anything like what we saw in Brooklyn, they will have the support of the crowd.

The second women's match scheduled for Wednesday will see Alexa Bliss take on another newcomer, Peyton Royce.

Bliss has been in full heel mode ever since she joined forces with Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy, but being a manager has forced her to take a break from pursuing her own success.

If she can pick up a win this week, it's likely we will see Bliss fighting her own battles more often from this point forward—and if you ask this writer, that is a good thing.

Bliss has so many qualities that make a good Diva, but she isn't quite ready for the main roster. She is agile, athletic and beautiful; however, she hasn't been in the wrestling business long enough to make a big impact.

She is still learning the business, but she has improved more in the two years since she was hired than some Divas have in twice that time.

It's possible that a win here could propel Bliss into the hunt for the NXT Women's Championship, but we will have to wait until Wednesday night to see how this match turns out.

The Men

Baron Corbin and Rhyno set their differences aside when they teamed up in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, but after losing in the final round to Balor and Joe, it looks like they are back to being rivals.

We have seen these two men fight before, so we know what to expect. This bout will be a brawl in every sense of the word.

Corbin has shown a lot of promise ever since he advanced from 30-second squashes to having actual matches, and Rhyno is the perfect veteran to help him continue to improve his game.

Those two will be the main event of the evening, but the contest that most people are probably excited about will see a veteran of the business make his debut in a WWE ring.

James Storm, who had been a mainstay in TNA for more than 10 years, will be fighting Danny Burch in his first NXT match.

Storm has been in the business for almost 20 years, and during his time in TNA, he proved to be as charismatic as he is talented.

He might not have the typical physique that WWE likes its Superstars to have, but what he lacks in abs, he more than makes up for with toughness and experience.

It's going to be interesting to see what role Storm takes going forward. His expertise would make him a great trainer for the Performance Center or a valuable talent inside the ring.

What are you looking forward to on this week's episode of NXT?
