Top Five Picks for the Heluva Good! 200 Truck Race
This week the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will be racing Saturday afternoon for another matinee race at New Hampshire's "Magic Mile."
It's race No. 19 of 25, should be another exciting to see the trucks back on the 1.058 mile oval and consider it my home track.
Here are my top five five picks for the race, along with a sleeper pick and my Raybestos Rookie of the Race pick.
1.) Ron Hornaday Jr. in eight races at the track, has compiled three wins, four top fives, six top-10 finishes and led 459 laps.
Horn will have a stout truck, be fast, should qualify top five, always good on the flat tracks, should have another dominating performance resulting in his 46th career win.
2.) Mike Skinner in six races at the track, has compiled two top fives, three top-10 finishes, won two poles and led 75 laps.
Skinner will be racing the same older chassis again this week, should be tough again, needs to qualify well, if he not leading will be vying for the win in the closing laps.
3.) Brian Scott in two races at the track, has compiled one top-10 finishes and a 21st finish in his series debut.
Scott will have another stout truck, be fast, will qualify well, his a Jeff Hensley led crew are a benefit for him, could use pit strategy late in the race for the win but feel he'll be vying for the win in the closing laps.
4.) Todd Bodine in five races at the track, has compiled two top fives, two top-10 finishes and led one lap.
Bodine will have a good truck, needs to qualify well, will be fast, could challenge for the lead or win using pit strategy and will be their in the closing laps vying for the win.
5.) Rowdy Busch in four races at the track, has compiled one top five, three top-10 finishes and led 51 laps.
Busch will have a decent truck, be fast, qualify front row, should run top three most oif the race, never know what strategy crew chief Richie Wauters will try to pull off on a late caution and should be vying for the win in the closing laps.
My Raybestos Rookie of the Race pick is J.R. Fitzpatrick. He's making his debut at New Hampshire but think he'll have a decent race and should have a top-15 or better finish.
I really like this Kid, his experience running on tracks similar to NHMS in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series will be a benefit for him.
My Sleeper Pick is, Happy Harvick. In three races at the track, he's compiled two top-10 finishes and led 94 laps.
Harvick will have a stout truck, be fast, qualify well, and has a asset with his Ernie Cope led team. It's always exciting when he's racing in trucks and could just pull off another win or ruin someones day should they have another "Loco-Moment."
Rick Crawford, Colin Braun and Timothy Peters just missed the cut.
Then Terry Cook, David Starr, Dennis Setzer, Austin Dillon, T.J. Bell, Johnny Sauter, and Tayler Malsam all could factor in as well.
Always love seeing the Trucks race at the "Magic Mile", if you get the chance do attend a race at the track don't miss out. The New England Race Fans are the best and be sure to eat some of that mmmhhh good fried seafood.
Author's note: Had my laptop crash on me this week but back with a bigger better laptop and better late than never with this one.
