Eli Manning Becomes 15th Player with 40,000 Career Passing Yards
New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning may not have emerged victorious in Sunday's 24-20 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, but he did become just the 15th quarterback in NFL history to record 40,000 career passing yards, per pro-football-reference.com.
Entering the game with 39,948 career passing yards, Manning was a lock to reach the milestone, provided he stay healthy.
He reached the milestone on his team's second drive of the game, finding superstar wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. for a 26-yard gain to set up a field goal.

Manning then hooked up with Beckham for a 67-yard touchdown later in the second quarter, helping the Giants take a 13-10 lead into halftime.
Manning extended the lead to 20-10 when he found tight end Larry Donnell for a 10-yard touchdown early in the third quarter, but the New York offense stalled out for the rest of the game, allowing the Falcons to mount a comeback.
Riding a superstar receiver (Julio Jones) of his own, Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan led a pair of long touchdown drives in the final quarter, eventually giving his team a 24-20 lead when running back Devonta Freeman rushed for a two-yard score with just 74 seconds remaining.
On the Giants' ensuing drive, Falcons cornerback Robert Alford was called for a 30-yard pass interference penalty on Beckham, but four straight incompletions from Manning ended the game and dropped the Giants to 0-2.
